Worst game management decision I can recall but Klein was pushing all of the right buttons for the rest of H2 .

In the words of Jimbo... it was about execution.

It was an ill timed play, but not terrible. What made it terrible was that it was too much risk when it was unnecessary.

Terrible call is a 3yd out by the TE when you are 3rd and 7. And then doing it game after game.

I would've just pounded EJ up the middle again and then again on 4th down if he didn't make it in 3rd down.

Do that and the game is over.

Reed never had the ball

Reed didn't have the ball. It was a direct snap to the true freshman running back

Also it was the second time in the game we decided to throw the ball backwards to the other team. They could have scooped that up and won the game.

Hopefully he learned his lesson.

Getting too cute is one of his weaknesses .

Not having the ball in Reeds hands at such a critical juncture is insane. Especially with as ascendant he was in the 2nd half. I mean, we can see his thought process…. But geesh

There was a nice big hole over left tackle. If you're goimg to run a DUMB-ASS PLAY with an option to run or pass. at least put it in the hands of an experienced back like EJ Smith.

Totally agree. Given the circumstances and personnel one of the worst calls I have ever seen. Easily could have ruined a great comeback.

Deep down Klein must subconsciously be trying to pay back A&M for Sirr Parker's dagger through the heart of K St.

Nothing else makes sense. He'll keep doing this til "successful". Thank God for our defense.

That play was bad. The play calling that led to 31 second half points was good.

While in theory, I completely agree with you. However, you need look no further than last year's game against the sips (repeatedly) to see that it doesn't always turn out that way. Then all of the Monday (Sunday) morning OCs would be dogging you for not calling something else that works.

I would be willing to bet you would have just about made a mess in the front of your pants if the play would have worked. Everyone would be talking about how ballsy the play was to seal the win. Last year, everyone was angry about how dumb he was to keep running it up the middle against the sips. We won! Be happy. There's plenty to complain about but at the end of the day, our team is 10-0. He is a huge contributor to that fact. I am fairly certain they didn't just throw Morrow out there having never practiced that play. I am even more certain that you wouldn't have been able to call the game any better to bring us back from a 27 point first half deficit. He and Elko both owned up to their mistake and have our beloved Aggies in a position to accomplish something we haven't done in a lifetime, in year two no less. Show a little appreciation.

Direct snap to a fish RB Morrow with option to pass it or run it. Morrow freaked, and flipped it when he should have kept it.

Bussey would have been a better option. Former QB, upper classman, been in that setting.

Im guessing Klein lost confidence in the oline. This isn't the first time hes ran some crazy play at the Goal line after failing to run it in. Its the first time though his tricky play calling didnt work in these situations. The others resulted in touchdowns

The call was bad, but the execution is what ultimately blew it. Idk if the initial pitch wasn't a fake like it has been in the past when we've run that play, but Morrow has to just eat the ball and move on. He shouldn't be trying to get it out under pressure like that.

That said, as an OC you can't put a guy, especially a freshman, in position to make that mistake. That ball should have never had a chance to be in the air. Don't call a pass, pitch, speed option, jet, nothing. Has to be a handoff or a read.

It's a lesson Klein apparently needed to learn and I'm glad it didn't cost us.

Super lucky it was short side of the field and they only were able to corral it on the ground

It was first and goal from the 5 We gained 4 yards on first down got another half yard on second. That is not exactly "stuffed"

IMO, he needs to hang around a year or 2 more as an OC. I dont think he has enough experience to be HC at a D1 program. But, I've been wrong before.
