Assuming Georgia wins this game,

We have zero losses in conference
Georgia would have one loss to Alabama
Ole Miss has one loss to Georgia

The rest of the teams have two losses or more.

So if we were to lose to Texas and both Georgia and Mississippi win out, all three of us would have one loss in conference.

Ole Miss' loss would be to Georgia.

Admittedly, I haven't follow this super closely, but how is it that we need to win out and wouldn't have a tiebreaker in this scenario?

I think if we lose to texas, we lose nearly all tie breakers to the other 3 dont we?

Head-to-head competition among the tied teams

Record versus all common Conference opponents among the tied teams

Record against highest (best) placed common Conference opponent in the Conference standings, and proceeding through the Conference standings among the tied teams

Cumulative Conference winning percentage of all Conference opponents among the tied teams

Capped relative total scoring margin versus all Conference opponents among the tied teams

Random draw of the tied teams

We lose all of the 1-loss tiebreakers. We either need to win out, or have both Bama and Ole Miss lose their last game

Yes, if we lose to texas, we are most likely out of the SEC champ game since we haven't beat any of the "good" SEC teams.

Bama is also sitting at one loss currently in conference.

The tiebreakers when counting multiple teams usually revolve around H2H(we haven't played any of them) record against common opponents and opponents conference winning %. Our SEC schedule is largely bottom feeders who haven't beat any of the top teams, so neither of those tiebreakers are advantageous to us unfortunately.

These are the side effects of a 16 team conference and the uneven scheduling that came with Texas/OU joining. With the conference schedules going to 9 games and each team having 3 rivalry games and 6 rotating opponents every year, the schedules should be a bit more balanced moving forward. Not very likely to have 4 potential 0-1 loss teams in conference with those factors in play.

Why? Has absolutely nothing to do with the SECCG.

Georgia has completed their SEC slate for this season.

We are going to curb stomp texas on MAROON FRIDAY and be a 12-0 SEC team...and still be ranked 3rd in the country.

Behind ****ing Indiana.

Could you imagine if texas had our record? or a quarterback that threw for 450 and orchestrated the biggest comeback in program history?

They would be unanimous #1 and the Heisman would be a done deal.

We are sitting at 3 behind B10 teams that have resumes that are nowhere close to ours. NOWHERE CLOSE.

And Reed is still a darkhorse candidate.

Its bull*****

And it matters.

Conference championship games will never end until someone pays the conference the same amount of money they make to not play that game. Follow the money. Facts are very stubborn things.

Disagree. Championship game shouldn't count/hurt you/help you outside of the conference, though.

For the record, I want an SEC championship, in addition to a national championship, and it's important. I'm tired of hearing that our last conference title was 1998. So whatever it takes.

Lets simplify this:

UGA is done with SEC games.

If Bama wins vs Aub, we play Bama.
If Bama loses vs Aub, we play UGA.
OKC~Ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
that makes sense

so looks like bama despite their loss to ou

so we're gonna beat bama in SECCG and go 13-0

Ive said it before and Ill say it again, I rather play Bama than UGA in the SECCG.

Uga is balanced. Bama is not. They struggle to run, which will get them in 3rd and long scenarios vs Elko and our blitz packages.

I fully believe aub could beat bama with auburns defense. But now that OU won, I kinda prefer bama to beat aub.

So, I'm seeing Georgia might be in the SEC champ game if top 4 teams all win out based on strength of schedule.

I would have thought it would be us and Bama bc of Bama winning head-to-head but that is not how it works.

Might not be a bad thing.

Win the SEC, we are the 2 seed most likely and Georgia the 4. Flip if Georgia wins.

If we ended up the 4 seed, probably playing the 5 seed in the Cotton Bowl. 5 seed might be Texas Tech.

Ags and Tech in the Cotton Bowl to go to the Semi-Finals!

That would set up a Semifinal with either Ohio State or another team in the Fiesta Bowl.

Which is better than playing possibly Georgia in a semifinal game in Atlanta again.

Tiebreakers arent set in stone. If say Florida beats Tennessee and Kentucky beats Vandy or other things that shift opponent records, Georgia could wind up with tiebreaker over Alabama, for example.
