No one has mentioned Vandy going 10-2 and the sips going 9-3......all of the talking heads are saying that tu gets in the playoffs with 3 losses, but by my math Vandy should be the last SEC team in.

A&M
OSU
Indiana
Alabama
Georgia
Ole Miss
Ttech
Notre Dame
Oregon
Vandy
Top ACC team
Group of Five team

Why should the sips be in if Vandy is at 10-2 and they are 9-3 (don't say head to head because that game was in Austin!!!)?????

Because they beat Vandy heads up and because they are keeping Austin weird.

Yes, but tgst should only apply if all else is equal, and it's not

Vandy only 2 losses sips 3 losses

10-2 Vandy would be in.

Don't think people count on them beating UT so if both 9-3 tu would correctly be ahead of them

None of this will matter when the sips are 8-4

Ya but we've only had one year of an expanded playoff

All of what talking heads? Even in Austin, sports radio is saying it's questionable at 9-3. Was listening to it today.

That's like the crazy stat i saw earlier today that said since 2014 one of the top 3 in the final playoff rankings won the championship.

Can a 9-3 team have a better resume and be more deserving than a 10-2 team? I think the answer is yes because who you play matters. This conversation is beneficial to us because it is raising awareness to getting credit for playing a tough P5 non conference game-which the committee is not doing. Currently there is NO reason to schedule a tough P5 non conference. Ole Miss played Washington St for crying out loud. Teams that play Ohio St and Notre Dame on the road should be rewarded.

The third best team Vanderbilt has or will play is LSU, Tennessee, or Missouri while the third best team Texas will play is Georgia or Texas A&M and in order to finish with 3 losses Texas will have to beat one of those.

but there should be a deduction somewhere for losing to a 3-5 team (Florida)

and that loss happened in October

9-3 tu would get in over 10-2 Vandy and the committee would say "head to head results"

I used to say the CFP is fine at only 12 teams, that there wouldn't be much controversy for 13 and after. But.... We need to expand it.

The Baylor AD would buy a Perryman report saying 8 wins for Arch Manning are worth 127.3 million more CFP points than 10 wins for Vandy. It's science.

Different take: If tu is 9-3 and vandy is 10-2 then neither should be in.

A three loss tu team that beat either #5 or arguably #1 would be in over a 2 loss vandy. I'll bet ANY amount of money.

Guarantee you if that happens, at least 2 or 3 butt lickers at ESPN will still be arguing for them to get in

No 3 loss team made it last year. 3 loss bama was the highest ranked. No 3 loss team makes it this year.

Vandy only 2 losses sips 3 losses

Voters are not treating a 7 pt loss on the road to the #1 the same. If sips go 9-3 they'll have wins over OU, Vandy, A&M or Georgia. Their losses would be to 2 top 5 teams and one bad loss. Vandy doesn't have a win over a currently ranked team. They'd have to beat UT to go 10-2, and that would be there best win. I mean seriously if you just want to look at records BYU and Georgia Tech should be ahead of every 2 loss teams. Of course that makes no sense.

We just need to win our games. What happens below us isn't really a big concern. If you actually want to worry about something it would be a 10-2 t.u. being ranked above an 11-1 A&M. They would probably play in the SEC title game. Guarantee an 11-2 SEC winner would get a higher seed over 11-1 that doesn't play in the SEC title game. But sips and Vandy will likely both drop a game or 2 so who tf cares.

I hate the sips - but why is this really a debate? They would have the same conference record with the sips winning head to head. The 10-2 vs. 9-3 stuff just punishes the sips for playing at Ohio St. and as others have said if they get to 9-3 they will have had to have beaten Georgia (they ain't beating us) which would be a better win than Vandy has.

But that OSU game is still a loss. It would be one thing if they lost to Ohio State and looked good doing it, but they didn't. They looked bad. They've looked bad a lot.

There is no logic. Sip has more eyeballs and potentially sells more product. That's it.

This us all true, but the only reason anyone is saying a 9-3 sip team can still get in is because it's sip

With the same exact schedule and results that sip has, No one would be saying a 9-3 A&M team or a 9-3 vandy team or a 9-3 mizzou team would have a chance to get in

Certain programs will always get the benefit of the doubt because of the name on the jersey and the logo on the helmet
