It's not Tyler White's fault at all. Our blockers allowing multiple untouched players to reach him is the problem. It needs to be fixed yesterday.

I've noticed our punt blocking is bad and a big risk in nearly every game this year. Want to screw around and lose a game? Punt blocking is one of the things that could cost us winning a game.

Field Goal kicking is another issue. Not sure what happened to Bond, but Special Teams needs help all around.

Re: #1, good to have Scooby back who can spy if needed. DEs need to not rush PAST the QB.

#3 - false starts weren't an issue in F'ville or Red Stick, but was can't have an early snap like vs lsu.

That's why I said some blame. We still need to block the guys but this is an imperfect game and to be a good player you have to realize that. JFF was so freaking good as he saw what was happening and reacted accordingly.

So what, all punters look at the ball from the time they catch it til the time they kick it. QBs hold the ball and look downfield. Punting a football properly is very difficult, punting it for distance and hang time is extremely difficult. Punter can't be worried and looking to see if other people are doing their job.

The main thing we need to work on, after blocking, is punting the ball 50 yards and out of bounds. If we punt the ball anywhere NEAR that fool from Austin we are STUPID. He's the sole reason the whorns have survived the last two weeks.

We've had a few times that we could have blocked punts ourselves but the rush has been slow and half hearted. It appears we regularly go punt safe. Makes sense when we can return punts well but I'd be curious to see if we start increasing the punt rush before potential conference championship or playoff games

Many point block schemes including ours is actually designed to let free runners up the middle and let the backs pick then up from the inside out. Can't know for sure, but it looked like the right back went to help with an outside guy when he should have picked up the guy who blocked it. Seems like a communication thing.

I went back and looked at our alignment…actually surprised we had 11 on the field. We were so overmatched on the right side a block was all but inevitable. I wouldn't ask Elko…I'm sure changes will be made in punt protection.

Not sure how much you can speed up the punter, but you can practice blocking better.

It also needs to be coached that a holding penalty there is acceptable. If you're beat, grab them.

Our two blocks were both unblocked players right up the gut. No punter in the world is going to have success in that situation.

Do you watch the games? Two completely unblocked guys in the interior blocked those punts. For Notre Dame they shifted and the blockers didn't account for him. LSU the blockers just picked up the wrong guys.

I feel like this team has finally made it to elite status. Instead of complaining about the HC,OC,DC, offensive line, QB, linebackers, DBs, or kickers missing FGs our fan base has started a thread to complain about the punt coach. I'm feeling really good about this team if we are that far down on the list of things to complain about.

So… Allowing two blocked punts is a pretty big issue. Saying we are so good we don't care about blocked punts is a weird take. Do we need another Cabo fund?

It's 4-D chess we are setting up the fake for when we need it the most.

It seems simple enough doesn't it? If anyone is coming free he's coming off the edge…not between the snapper and right guard, which in this case constituted the entire right side of our line.

Wer'e fortunate it hasn't cost us a W. I suspect this will be a focus between now and next game . Elko doesn't sit on weaknesses from what I have seen.

Thinking about this more, there could indeed be a fake punt scenario where we could use the film to set ourselves up for success . I am not suggesting in any way we allowed these punts to be blocked BUT there could be a scenario where a team wanting to block a punt based on the film could get duped . As in, what you think you see as a punt defense team may not be what you get.
