What has he earned so far? He has no championships to his name yet. He had an average season at best last year based on talent and could lose 3 of his next 4. Let's wait to see how he does the next few seasons before we do something stupid like we did with jimbo. It's not like he's hurting for money and honestly a few million more per year will not really change his life. He will never spend what he will get on his current contract so stacking more will not make his life so much better.

He has a contract that runs thru 2030 that pays him $7,000,000 a year plus very lucrative incentives.

He had an 'ok' year 1 and year 2 speaks for itself, but why renegotiate now?

I hope he's the most successful coach ever, but FINISH is right.

He's getting extended plus a raise in the $11million plus range with most of it guaranteed if he makes the playoffs and would likely be done before Christmas.

I like a concept of making championships so lucrative that every coach who thinks they have what it takes will want to coach here to take a shot at winning the lottery. Give them all the facilities, NIL program, and staff funding to make it happen but only really pay out when they hit benchmarks and make the payout HUGE. You win and this program will be a self feeding monster. I do believe the true best coaches will stay believing they have what it takes.

This only works if they have all the pieces available around them for success and only a few programs could offer that. A&M is uniquely set up to succeed in this new era of football.

Lets wait till the season ends.

That's the LUCRATIVE part of the current agreement.

Before they sweeten the pot on the base, he should have to do it more than one season.

NO!!! He is already getting paid really well to do his job, and he is just doing his job. He has great incentives in his contract. I wouldn't even give him a raise at 12-0, win hardware and then we can talk.

Serious question, if he has a deal on the table from Penn State right now and he walks unless you match the offer right now what would you want us to do?

I know it's hard for people to fathom, but some guys care about the work more than the $. The $ is just icing on the cake for such men.

At 12-0, he gets a raise or he's gone. Good job! Our last perfect season was 1992, almost 35 years ago.

With as many schools looking for coaches, Some with big pockets, and maybe even one that could be personally interesting to him, I don't think ATM is going to have a choice but to give Elko a raise if they want to keep him.
