The last time A&M started 7-0 - 1994.

The last time A&M beat LSU in Baton Rouge - 1994.

A&M went 10-0-1, including a win in Austin over the sips to finish atop the SWC. Unfortunately, sanctions made the Aggies ineligible for the title. So the 5 teams with the second best record shared the title lmao!

The tie was inexplicable to SMU, and I think Tech was the sacrifical lamb conference representative based on the "which team hasn't been to the Cotton Bowl in the longest" tie-breaker. They got mauled by Keyshawn Johnson and USC I believe

The SMU game was played in San Antonio for some reason...US ARMY classic or something like that??? I'm sure someone else will know the answer to that one.

It must've been something to see A&M beat tu, OU, LSU, Arkansas, Tech, and Baylor (and TCU, Houston, and Rice) all in one season.

I was only 6 at the time and didn't even know Texas A&M existed. According to Wikipedia, some of our home games that year only had about 56k attendance. Did the sanctions affect fan sentiment even though the team was winning? Home games vs OU and Baylor were the only ones that broke 70k.

Party with Keystone Light?!? In 1994 I was a fifth year senior working 20 hours a week for my department (Meteorology) at $5.50 an hour.

We usually averaged a little over 60k per game (I was a student from 1990-94). College football wasn't nearly at popular back then, and we had a lot fewer former students. The student side was usually pretty full, but not the west side, and the horseshoe was usually pretty sparse.

What are you talking about?? I was there from 1987-1992 and the stadium was packed every week. Football was king in the early 90s!!

I agree. I had season tickets from 1987-1995 and the games at Kyle were usually close to full in the 90's years of that. I had other family members that would try to get tickets and would have bad seats due to lack of availability. Wilkepedia is not always reliable in stats like that for sure.

The attendance figures on Wikpedia echo what he was saying. Most games at Kyle from 93-96 look like 50-60k, tu games 70k+. Even the upset over #2 Nebraska wasn't a full house according to the numbers, but then again I was not there.

Yep, taking with a grain of salt. I am sure attendance tracking wasn't an exact science back then either.

The stadium was full in the 1998 win over Nebraska, but the stadium capacity was only 55k that year due to the The Zone construction

Seats in horseshoe were tough to sell. That's why we tore it down and replaced it with the Zone.

Just to push home the point of how long ago that was.

That was my first year of college.

I'm turning 50 in a few weeks.

Friend, it was not.
The only games that were heavily attended were Texas games. Usually, we were 55-65,000.

And very few people wore maroon.

Unfortunately no one got to see that team unless you were in the stadium. Part of the probation was no TV.

I remember that season, tv ban and bowl ban if I remember right?

Getting my dad's newspaper every Sunday to find the score from Saturday. Completely different world.

I wasn't very interested in CF that year even though I was a Frosh at JuCo and trying to gain admission to A&M. Every high school year leading up to 1994 saw A&M dominate the SWC and you were just dumb if you wanted to attend t.u. because they sucked in football. From my perspective, t.u. only won once in the series from my 2nd grade year until 1995. What a run that was. Can't believe I just didn't take an interest until trying to transfer!

Class of 94 here! I remember it well! KidDoc and I had our first child that summer and we actually brought her to games in the student section...that's how dumb we were at the time! She was well-behaved but we got tired of holding her so I passed her to my mom at halftime and grandma took her home. We are probably the reason a baby needs a separate ticket now.

Didn't play Arkansas in 1994, they left after the 1991 season for the SEC. Series didn't renew till 2009

I can assure you it was full indeed. I was a freshman at my first Aggie game and was jammed into the wall at the top deck and north side. We did yells with the work crew building the zone. I remember getting absolutely crushed into that concrete wall it was so full.

I remember betting a classmate that TCU would beat Tech that season. It was my first ever sports bet. I won, but I did make him pay up. I wished Rice could have won one more non-conference game so they could have went bowling that season. I believe SMU was 0-7-1 that season.

Um.... No....

This team is good, but the 1994 team was on another level.

If this team can play a complete game and at least dominate in one, anyone (well, except Samford won't count), then I can maybe draw a parallel to the 1994 team.

The '94 schedule had 10 cupcakes, and we tied one of them. That team wouldn't have beaten any of our recent teams.
