IDK, man. You look at some of the amazing technological leaps humans have made in just in the last few years in the worlds of social media and AI porn, you really can't rule anything out for the future.

Uh...no. It's not a Jimbo moment.

1. JImbo didn't take us to the CFB Playoffs ever (Indiana Coach did in 2024)

2. Jimbo didn't take us to a 6-0 record this year (Elko and the Indiana Coach have this year)

3. Jimbo didn't take us to an 11-2 record last year (Indiana's record in 2024)

4. Jimbo didn't have a $15M buyout. Yep, you read that correctly...Just $15M on the buyout for Indiana's new Football contract with it's coach vs Jimbo's buyout - at the time of his departure - @ $70M.

To put that in perspective - you just won the "Jimbo lottery" and you are feeling kind of Buc-ee'ish and want to give back to A&M and have your Aplin Center moment. You're all in on the $70M. That is like you paying the full 4 year Texas A&M scholarship for ~2,000+ students.

So...no. One is not like the other. Not in football terms. Not in winning terms. Not in scholarship terms. The good news? We got Elko. That's all that matters now. Gig'em.

The things they have in common.
Both were fully guaranteed, and primary reason was another school was looking into him.
I think he is a good coach, but his run last year was because their schedule was a complete joke.

The $15 million number is what another school would have to pay to steal him.

"If Indiana fires Cignetti without cause during his new deal, his $93.25 million becomes fully guaranteed."

Supposedly Indiana is throwing around decent NIL money for football. Mark Cuban and a couple other big hitters. Not Michigan, Ohio State or large SEC school money, but in the same neighborhood as Penn State. While they have some talent they've developed, a lot of their key contributors are junior/senior transfers.

Surprised Miami isn't on that list.

Some of you are just flat out blind.

If Indiana didn't do this they would lose him.

He will likely lead them to the playoffs two years in a row and they would not be able hire anyone close to him.

Y'all do realize sometimes you have to pony up right? Not every situation is like Jimbo and this one certainly is not.

NIL changed the landscape, they are living in the past

Might want to see where they rank for NIL money sport.

LOL, they're still a basketball school. Their success these two seasons is impressive but they'll come back down before too long. tOSU, Michigan, PSU will make sure of it.

This. Those three will burn the Conf down before letting Indiana continue, or inspire other schools in the Conf.

Regret will seem much more tolerable with a perfect season national title on the wall in the modern era.

B1G is printing money and there are some large alumni bases at some of these schools with traditionally pedestrian football teams. The powers better act fast to snuff it out.

It's impossible for this to be a Jimbo moment. Jimbo never won anything.

But TexAgs knows stuff!!

Between Penn State and Michigan having openings, Indiana would've made a colossal error to not pay Cignetti. The title alone makes the deal worth it which is why Jimbo was so expensive to begin with.

They'll have a national championship. Who gives a ***** We'd pay $100MM for one of those. We've paid that much for 0 titles recently.

I think Indiana's 8-year contract extension with an average annual compensation of $11.6 million for head coach Curt Cignetti is a great investment. Cignetti focused on developing existing players into a cohesive unit rather than relying on individual highly ranked recruits. Also, he rebuilt the roster through the transfer portal by seeking proven, overlooked, and experienced college players hat fit his system and coaching style.

I am that someone, but they will regret it IF he sucks in the next 2 years.

Remember that he won with super-seniors and some creative engineering. It is difficult to use the same trick over and over again, regardless of how good of a coach he is. Even Saban would have a hard time today.

I think he will be out in 4 years (2030)

They will.
Because they paid him AFTER the NC win.
So for the big money they paid him, they would get 0-24.

He is being paid big bucks not for the NC but for the next NC.

You are very wrong.

He's untouchable there now.

It took sips how long to run off Mack Brown? And you think INDIANA is going to be tired of Cignetti by 2030? Lol. Get a clue!

Only LSU fires NC coaches quickly.

No one is untouchable. He will get a longer rope, that's all. But if he stinks all 4 years, he is out.
