Every time a coach gets fired they mention the buyout of Jimbo. When will somebody pay more, so we can stop being mentioned.
Same problem as when we "ruined college football" by giving Jackie that insane contract. It took awhile but eventually, he was not the highest paid coach so those dollar amounts were suddenly just fine.
Not sure how soon we will get to a $75 million buy out being just fine but we can hope.
Jimbo buy out will remain highest for long long time.
As some in zoo expert has chimed, NIL has shifted dynamic of $ in college football.
There is a sense that coaching salary has peaked and $ will be shifting to players...

Harroz anticipates that college coaches' salaries will moderate over time, in line with the NFL. Already last offseason, Venables directed $1 million of his $8.55 million salary to players.
That means creating a football schedule compelling enough to fill an 84,000-seat stadium and command premium ticket prices. It also means belonging to a conference with favorable TV time slots so that the athletes you're recruiting "have the prime-time ability to showcase their talents," Harroz said, "so they can have the best chance to go to the NFL."
