My football knowledge is limited but was wondering what adjustments if any were made in the second half. It seemed to me that Reed started executing, but I don't know.
I mean, Elko said they started calling plays that they knew Reed was more comfortable with.Aggie*1982 said:

Better play calling and less penalties. That's really it.
Ah so…the Johnny Manziel solution…13B said:
Elko also eluded to trying to make Reed more of a pocket passer, then they started letting him do things he was more comfortable with. Maybe the coaches will finally learn something. It's fine to try to help develop players to improve their abilities BUT stop repeatedly trying to jam a square object into a round hole. Tailor the dang offense to the players strength instead of trying to warp them into something they aren't. Then recruit the type players that have the skill set to flourish in your basic system.

A big second half adjustment (after about 8 min in third quarter)
Subbed in Faaiu for Nabou. Snaps/line play got a lot cleaner.
Kliff admitted after Florida he had to set Johnny free.13B said:greg.w.h said:13B said:

Elaborate please. Are you implying that it didn't work with JFF or it did?
It does bring up a good point. Can you ever recruit "your type" player for an offense when the coaching carousel spins so fast? {I guess with the portal it makes it easier but still} JFF was great under KK, not as much under (was it?) Spav. Reggie would have possibly done well under Sumlin (Slocum) but not under Fran (can't remember his OC). What if our incoming QB doesn't fit our next OC's system if Klein moves on. I think it goes back to the OC needing to be able to tailor an Offense to the players at hand. Yes, improve their skill set but stay true to their abilities.

Seems like maybe they should just do that in the first quarter.

I would disagree. Reed needs to learn to recognizes and hit more than just crossing routes. We will play teams later that will shut that down. We will have to make them pay with a Slugo or deep route.
Reed really wants to hit that deep ball but misses out on a lot of other opportunities that could turn out just as big gains the way our WR's can make plays after the catch.The_Truth said:
The offensive line came out imposing their will in the run game, which in turn helped the pass game. The first half play calling wasn't bad either. It's just that Marcel was forcing the deep ball when the underneath routes were there for the taking.
