I think that we just lost the locker room last year on the DL front.

The amount of effort went way down after a certain player was benched for too many boneheaded penalties.

Glad we have some players who want to jam this year.

I don't know, Mark Sanchez getting in a knife fight on a work trip is pretty damn odd.

I said it last year and I'll say it again this year. Those guys were just coasting and trying to get through the season healthy. We probably should have given more reps last year to guys who were hungry to make plays. They were not.

Odd is what we call it. Places like Alabama did this regularly because they built a system. Maybe Elko is doing the same for us? Only time will tell but I hope so

You have to spend allot of time watching college sports to get it.

Team mentality matters, and it's driven by both the coaching staff, and chemistry amongst the players.

Sip, as much as I dislike them got knocked off by a truly motivated Florida team; but sip is still a quality team.

Alabama got knocked down by us during our entrance into the SEC, when they were at their peak...

College football is unpredictable.

I had a feeling they'd be more productive. Let's wait until the season is over to truly compare them though.

sips haven't shown anything unless you count Florida as a quality loss.

I think our DL played better last year at the start of the season but tapered waaaaaay off as the season progressed.

This year the DL didn't do a whole lot the first two weeks but has really stepped it up now.

Snitches get stitches.

The DL last season was trash after the lsu game, for whatever reason.

This defense is better coached. Better tackling, set the edge, fill gaps, etc. Overall defense is better and it's allowing dudes like Howell to thrive.

You can be the most talented player but if you minimize your impact it can also be seen in team production.

We are tackling MUCH better than last year and it seems to be improving every week.

DL play last year was not good enough
Which might explain why Sellers looked like vintage Cam Newton in that game
Auburn was a bad team No way we should have lost that game and

the obvious conclusion is the guys that felt there draft position was locked in started lollgagging

Personally I choose to blame it on Jimbo, and it is something that is only fixed by those guys going to the NFL

I don't think the guys last year were coasting. I think they were all playing individual ball because they 3 of them had high draft ambitions. Then I do think Scourton got dinged and began throttling back.

Either way, I'm not surprised about the effort we're seeing from this year's bro, especially Howell.

Run defense is off the chart.

It was our Achilles heel last year. We have shut down 3 top 10 run defenses in a row and look easy doing it

Man are they tackling well
