He actually wasn't an eligible receiver. That was a backward pass so there are no restrictions on number (50-79) or position (lineman not on the end). Eligibles relate to forward passes.

It blows my mind how stupid some of these guys are. 5 star talent at a dynasty program and he's pulling that **** with the game on the line.

Commentator said it's not targeting because it was at the "hairline" and outside the 6 inch radius of the crown.

Problem is he (and the review ref) clearly don't know how big a 6 inch crown radius is. It includes the hairline.

They said he wasn't a defenseless player. He was being tackled and was wrapped up from behind and the other guy had a free shot at his head. That looks very defenseless.
