Watching the Oklahoma/Auburn game and the fans seem way louder and no music. Sounds like back in the day at A&M games.

It all depends on where they have the crowd mic set up and how much they have it cranked. Agreed that the atmosphere would be improved without the DJ, though.

I love how much people on TexAgs mention crowd noise on tv as if it's not 100% dependent upon the quality of equipment used by the broadcasting channel and how much the producer wants to turn it up.

I've had season tickets at both places. A&M is louder

Agree

TV experience, especially crowd noise is not an actual representation of the in person expereince.

I have been to games, and then watched replay at the house and thought, "I was at the game and never heard the opponents 50 pc spirit band." On TV all you hear is that spirit band.

No way sound can be measured one TV. Just ask Saban about Aggie crowd noise.

I was just thinking the same thing. They're absolutely playing music over the loud speakers.

Whose dj is louder? Who cares about the crowd.

Probably has a little to do with who Auburn's QB is

It was somewhat comparable before Kyle was expanded, now it isn't.

For its size, OU is deceptively loud, I'll give it that.

Every stadium plays music turned up loud before the play starts, especially on 3rd down

TV mostly hears what the network sets up for them to hear. Have watched video replays of games I attended and network broadcast sound was quite different than what the in person live sound was.

Sound on a tv broadcast doesn't mean squat.

For all you know they're piping a recording of '98 Kyle into the broadcast.

yes.. their home field is way better than ours, hence why they win prolifically there. They're just poor, that's all.

The DJ sucks the life out of Kyle Field. It's become difficult to compete with the DJ consistently and, as a consequence, the crowd noise is no where like it used to be.

This link shows what we (the 12th Man) used to be like (you have to click on the youtube link):

PS - I promise you it was not a function of where the mic was placed back in that day!

This. I have been watching various college games on TV and if you didn't know who was playing and went strictly by songs and DJ noise you would think you are always watching the same game…..and Kyle field included now.
Monkey see, monkey do.

Totally agree with no DJ.

Has there ever been a thread asking for a vote up or down on DJs for football games?

As large as Kyle Field is, it doesn't contain noise as well as some stadiums. Michigan's stadium, the same. Decibel records would be broken if 100K Aggies were crammed into Death Valley. Helps to be drunk too.

I was there and paid quite a bit for the ticket, and it was sold out. I assure you that I'm not on welfare. And their program is worth more than ours so your argument is kind of silly, but maybe it makes you feel better our mediocrity on the field
.
Also, it was loud at times, but not like Kyle field.

Why does it matter how it sounds on TV? They are just going to turn up or down the crowd noise mic to get the result they want for the broadcast. You aren't going to be able to make a successful comparison between broadcasts.

What matters is how it sounds in-person.

I was just at the OU vs Illinois State game. They have a DJ and it is annoying. Especially on 3rd down!!!!

Guessing it has something to do with TV but I would put in the column of reasons not to attend a game.
