I'm not sure I saw a team play harder than Florida State this past weekend. After going 2-10, that's mighty impressive. I don't think this is the game to wonder if team A only looked good bc team B is bad.

I think it's actually the Texas Ohio State game. Specifically the Texas offense.

Ohio State was replacing 7 starters on defense. Texas offense looking that bad should be a major concern.

Alabama on the other hand had tons of returning starters on both sides and FSU whipped them.

Illinois, Arizona State, Iowa State, and OU are all laughable.

Illinois is the only one I have an issue with. Similar to last year their schedule has them playing one ranked team. They can get their doors blown off by OSU and sneak into the playoffs like Indiana last year.

My bad they play two currently ranked teams. Indiana is also ranked but has the same joke of a schedule as Illinois.

Polls are crowdsourced BS. What should surprise you is they always agree with each other except for a few outliers…they're selling past results not future performance. Don't buy stock that way!!!

Clemson and Notre Dame should have fallen out of the top 10, especially Clemson.

FSU at 14 is laughable considering how bad Bama is.

Agree on Clemson. Somewhat agree on ND. But Alabama has the most talented roster in the country and a good coaching staff. We don't know how "bad" Alabama is yet because they've only played one game. At least for this week, FSU should absolutely get the benefit of the doubt that it was an elite win worthy of a spot in the top 15.

Exactly

You can' just assume that a team is bad or way overrated just because another one you didn't expect to be good, dominated them

Gotta give fsu credit for the dominating win over a top 10 team unless/until bama proves to be mediocre

You could use the same logic going the other way. You cant assume a team is good because they beat a team you expected to be good. They both could be bad as well... im not saying either just pointing out flawed logic.

Absolutely right, but we have to say that something g is the starting point and the data point we base things on

It's called SEC football. Were you expecting something different?

The Big 10 is the league that their teams only play 1-2 in the top 25.

Even though there are currently 6.

That's actually pretty good for being only the second week.

I don't like Big 10 having the top 2 spots but whatever.

10 SEC teams.

And we have plenty of games that can help us move up.

Their guy beat our guy. I guess you could say LSU should have jumped PSU but PSU handled business, so it's hard to drop them.

If aggies were in penns position, we would have been dropped for sure.

I know reading comprehension is hard.

Penn State is playing 2 of those ranked teams. You know, like Indiana did last year and made the playoffs.

Ole Miss is underrated

Same as last year, they play absolute garbage in OOC so we won't know anything about them until conference play.

And lets not pretend OSU had any offense either. t.u. had 130 more yards of it than OSU did. They lost the game because they couldn't convert a 4th down (1/5). OSU will have 2 losses as well. I think their QB only completed 2 passes more than 5 yds down the field.

There shouldn't be any polls until Week 4.

I've always said that. Preseason polls are just for marketing.

4 schools from Texas in the top 25

All just good arguments for why no poll should come out before week 5 when everyone is done with their cupcakes and played a few real conference games

This is where stats do not tell the story of what actually happened in the game as far as yards.

OSU had a very conservative game plan that they stayed with throughout the game because they never were behind. Their QB was 13/20 with 4 drops. They were playing to not lose the game bc they had so many new pieces and it worked.

Texas got over half their yards after they were down 14-0 Ohio State started playing prevent. Arch had 38 yards passing in the 3rd quarter. He set a Texas record for the past 20 years on inaccurate %.

Sark is also setting a trend of being aggressive and it costing his team.

The week 1 poll should be a complete rerack and based upon results

I agree that polls should not come out until the 4th week. Main reason, so many of the voters use their preseason rankings to justify future movement. It's wrong.

They also need to see everyone play a few good teams so there's not crazy jumps every week.

No 1 loss teams should be ranked higher than undefeated teams.

Regardless of how pro-tu this sounds at the moment, this is absolutely the type of concept that we should take outback and murdering a way that violates the 8th amendment. There are really two things that need to change: 1) make the preseason polls a power rating, or just straight up link them to Vegas odds. I admit there could be an element of "buying your tank" with the Vegas option, but some of the rich fools in this sport could really use to be separated from their money, partly because 2) everybody just needs to roll with whatever the preseason ranks are, but be better about reevaluating teams each week. It absolutely makes sense for a team to drop in rank because their competition proves not to be as good as thought, or for a lower ranked team to rise in rankings after losing to a higher ranked team.

And then there is the rest of the longhorns schedule...
Besides Florida, Georgia, and maybe us, this is weak AF. Oklahoma is a joke and nobody else is close to ranked.

Florida schedule is as crazy as it gets…

#3, #4, #5, #7, #9, #14, #19, #20, #22

And of that…

#3, #5, #7 are all in a row as their next 3 games!
