Bama is not going to hire Big game Sark. Sark is 0-2 or 0-3 against Deboer! Yes, Bama is going to hire the coach that cannot beat the coach they are firing. Texas is stuck with him.

Honestly, this didn't cross my mind until this thread.

But whoever thinks Sark would not jump at the Bama gig is deluding themselves. Alabama has enjoyed being at the pinnacle for so long their base won't accept anything other. Not at all saying DeBoer is only going to be given one more year, but it won't be more than say 3 or 4 if Bama "falters" to a horrible 8-4 season. And Bama can match or exceed compensation. Stakes are high in college football now. He spent time at Alabama, then came back from his personal issues to bring the sips back from the abyss. I think he has the ego to jump at the Bama gig if offered.

As others have pointed out, NIL is worlds different between the two schools. Sark seems to be recruiting purely off NIL dollars if the rumors of a $35 million dollar roster are true. If that's the only way he knows how to recruit, why would you go some place where they can't give you what you need?

Bama is done as a powerhouse. No doubt they'll have good years like every other school does, but unless NIL is capped (which I don't think can legally happen) they can't consistently compete with the big money up north or here in Texas and Florida. Same goes for OU. These schools are not going to grossly out recruit and retain talent like they used to, and will have to settle for good years every now and then.

Jmo. Us being good is good for us. A& M coaches should plan for what's in their control. Who else is good or bad doesn't really matter .

The worst coaching job would be replacing Saban. Hell even the guy replacing the guy that replaced Saban within a 5 year window.

It is hard to replace the damn near year to year top level of performance he put together. And, unfortunately, the decade of dominance we had to contend with.

Or maybe they get Saban to come back.

Saban wants nothing to do with NIL.

Bama being bad is good for us but not because sark would leave to coach there.

It would just be one less team we'd have to compete with for a playoff spot, if we are good enough , and it can't help their recruiting and could put their coach in the hot seat which means maybe we could possibly steal a player or two from them

Any of you thinking Bama can't compete on the NIL front are crazy. Their facilities are elite, the stadium is top 5 in the country and has 150+ suites and loads of boxes and premium clubs, routinely there are more people in town than the stadium holds (tailgate and watch at tailgate), stadium capacity was well over Kyle Field or DKR since the 70s/80s, 75% of the entire state supports them, they pay their HC and staff top 5 salaries, Bryce Young was making over $1Mill. per year in NIL when NIL was in its infancy and we were just figuring it out.

You think all that has happened when they don't have $$. When it comes to football, they have all the $$ that is needed and will continue to do so. They didn't become a blue blood and top 3 program in the country in the history of the sport by being poor and. It being able to dedicate resources to it.

That does not guarantee any level of success though, DeBoar will collect a kings ransom for 3-4 seasons then be gone.

There will never be another Saban or Saban like Bam dynasty in CFB due to NIL and parity driven by NIL. That doesn't mean that Bama doesn't have enough $$ for it, but there are still roster limitations and. It every kid wants to play for Bama. Especially now they Saban is gone.

It really is interesting to see these really good / great players at top schools that transferred from places like UTSA, UCF, Purdue, San Jose, etc. it's really building parity at the P4 level and within the top 10.

Saban was begging for more NIL. Saban. How much more money do you think an 8-4 coach will get? Alabama is by no means broke, but they will not be able to outspend others in a fashion that will make them the same Bama ever again. They will compete. But they will not be the mythical school that every coach will sacrifice their first born to go coach there. Sark would be an idiot to go there, if given the chance.

That is an agreeable and reasonable take, many others here are arguing like Bama will become like MS State or Pig due to NIL. Won't happen. They will still be Top 10, maybe 15, in terms of NIL resources, etc.

If you read that article where AJ McCaron said Bama has a small NIL pool you would realize Bama is not the job it once was. They will probably never compete in the current NIL world with Texas.

I think Texas is very happy about that.

Media is ridiculous and fans listening to it is worse.

Bama is NOT spending $75M+ to buyout DeBoer and then another $20M or so for his coaching staff.

They dont have that money. They are stuck with him through 2026 without a doubt. And even after 2026....not sure they buy him out. Things have to go very, very, very wrong and with his talent....he can win quite a few games even with poor coaching.

We can try and money whip our roster into a top tier (talent) program, but kids ultimately want to play for championships and the best path to the NFL. Time to start winning more.

It is amusing to see Bama ripped from so many angles.

I don't really care if Whitlock is right or not, but I support the downfall of bama football.

Technically it's $63M so still less than Jimbo. Heck they could hire Jimbo for nothing and we could pay his salary for Bama.

If Alabama misses the playoff DeBoer days as head coach maybe numbered. Bama will be looking at Elko to possibly replace him.

You may be trolling, but if you're not. Elko lost to an Auburn team that wasn't good enough to earn a bowl. Zero chance Alabama wants any of that
don't be a dork. Year 1 coach with backup QB.

Pretty sure I read that Jimbo has better odds than sark. Which is hilarious to me.

Auburn was the second to the last regular season game or four games ago. Calling Reed the backup at that point is not making your argument
