Ok so I get this is a fan board and folks can say what they want or need… but so many complain and cry after the first game of the season that .. oh the season is over.. oh we suck.. oh reed isn't good. … blah, blah, blah…. It is really so stupid..( in my opinion)…

Did we play great ?.. no..could have been better
Was there some really good stuff.. yes …
Did we win? … yes..
Should the defense have played better in first half more like the second …. Yes…
I can go on and on … but it's the first dang game of the year, first outing not playing against ourselves…
There were a handful of teams yesterday that were suppose to win and didn't… and guess what we weren't one of them…

I have faith Elko will fix what he said he will fix last night in the press conference… .. this season will be great!

Why does he need to fix it or more importantly why was it not already fixed? What has he or his staff shown that makes you think they will be anything other than a 7-8 win team again this year? He had all offseason and a cupcake home season opener and yet the team still did not look the part of a SEC contender. Had we played half the teams any other SEC team played yesterday we would have lost.

The concern is we looked bad to start last season too and look how the season played out. I think most of us just want to get off this marry go round of 7-8 win seasons. If you are being true to yourself you have to have some concerns with this team which should not be the case with all the money and resources thrown at it.

God, yall are goobers already naming the number of wins based on the 1st game, when our QBs and WRs looked more effective yesterday than at any time since like 2017.

That's only 22 years

I think a lot of frustration stems from the amount of money spent on this football program and what we are getting in return isn't near the caliber it should be. This is year after year.

I'm just trying to understand what you get out of following the team. The last time you were probably happy was when we fired Jimbo. I've never seen anyone so dedicated to being unhappy about something.

The best takeaways that there were no injuries. Saw lots of UTSA players go down.

There are a few of them. Always negative and trying to **** on any positives. Even if they are small positives

What are these positives for the program?

Explain to me this: If you don't care about winning titles then what are you getting out of it? What is it about another 8-4 season and a trip to the Texas Bowl that you find positive?

We don't live in a black and white world here. There are plenty shades of gray. We can be excited about the team but also realistic about the performance, which was far from perfect.

The greatest concern right now is that we're seeing bad patterns. Last year, we sucked against the run and gave up big third downs, and there was plenty of that to still go around last night, especially that nonsense run to start the 2nd half. Also, our oline didn't win the LOS, despite being hyped up as best in the SEC.

At the same time, this is a different team from last yesr with what appears to be the best skill position talent on offense since Johnny, which I didn't think we'd be in the zip code before last night. Also, our starting secondary didn't appear to have any major coverage busts and our tackling was definitely improved from last year.

The bad news is we repeated many of our shortcomings from last year. The good news is that we fixed some of it in game and play a team next week that will actually test if the improvements that we implemented really worked.

No need for fearmonger; no need to pop the champagne. Let's hope Elko lives up to being the effective coach we think he is!

There is no hope allowed in here. Me and my bros are here to ensure that everyone knows the ceiling is 8&4, and really we'll be lucky to win 3.

I thought the offense was on a positive track. I fear that we could get outscored by enough opponents that will makes us less than 8-4. We didn't play a top 10 team last night.
