Nothing looks more foolish than tradition to those who have none.

Yes

The o line is bad and Klein is hot garbage.

As a standalone stat? NO.

Combined with Reed's sub-par accuracy and pathetic rush defense. YES

Worried is a strong word when you have low expectations anyway.

Outside of Moss, we don't have an SEC-caliber back.

Reed and KC are going to have to carry this offense if Moss isn't available.

Owens is so timid. I hope Moss isn't hurt

O line and RB room are sub par.

Hope they improve

Reed sucked until UTSA got worn down half way through the 3rd qtr. But then improved to meh status after that.

Moss averaged 6.33 ypc and Owens 7.40. Overall that's a pretty damn good average. Running backs only had 15 total carries when you subtract Reeds 8 runs. That's an extremely low number of touches. Even with those low number of carries Amari and EJ still got playing time. I think this was intentional to work on the passing game and to bring back Moss and Owens slowly. When's the last time the Ags had a game where passing vs rushing plays was 36 / 23?

He started the game 10/12 for 135 yds.

Against a pasty UTSA defense, but UTSA's offense destroyed our defense the first half

If by offense, you mean Robert Henry Jr. that dude looked scrappy. Keeping an eye on him this season .

I dont know how much of a patsy I would call them. Its not like we were playing some SWAC FCS team. UTSA is an FBS school and one that hasnt had a losing season for many years.

Going to need drastic improvement from everyone not named concepione and craver, to get to 8-4.

I (and apparently the announcers) expected o-line dominance and RBs tearing it up. We certainly didn't get that. And while I question just how much of a "patsy" UTSA really is, with all the hype our RB room got, I expected more.

We bring back everyone from a line that was latgely ineffective last year. Yes, worried would be appropriate.

I wouldn't look at averages to state your case on our RB. I would say the fact we only ran our RB 13 times says a lot.

Our focus on offense and defnse was the pass. We should have been better prepared on defense but I'm not upset with our strategy on offense. I just hope we put everyone at ease a little and run it down Utah State throat.

42 yards on 2 plays. Take those away and it was 23 yards on 9 attempts. That's horrible.

Our attempts were the real story though. We clearly had no intention on running the ball last night.

Moss is our stud and had only 2 carries in first half. Clearly did not feel he needed to carry the ball a lot to win this one. Not worried "yet"

3.3 ypc. We weren't wanting to run Reed. Three running backs returning from surgery. UTSA playing downhill to force Reed to throw. We are fine IMO. Now, our rush D-- still having an issue with wrapping up and finishing tackles. The young back out of Gilmer was the best RB on Kyle yesterday-- he was explosive. I hope we get better with run fits and finishing tackles.

And missed a guy with NO ONE near him for a td. That's what I remember that was awful. Just throw it straight up in the air it's a td but no just chunk it as far as I can. That was ****ing awful.

It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

Been saying since his first year, he's a go-ball WR playing RB. Also, Moss is functionally hurt. Outside of the freak Adrian Peterson, it's pretty well established that an ACL requires 12-18 months to return, and Moss also tore the mcl. Yes, lots of guys return to the field in six months, but there remains muscle imbalances, brain inhibitions, and tentativeness.

Back to Owens, he has no play strength, runs like he's looking for a place to go down, and for all the speed, he doesn't change direction well at all (choppy step change of direction is slow). Bussey should be the third down back, bc while he's stiff hipped, he changes direction with assertiveness, reads blocks, and plays with a stout low center of gravity. I've read all the preseason love for A&M's RB room, and never understood it. Moss is coming off a severe knee injury. Daniels and Smith are average, at best, depth guys. Owens offers speed and little else.

It'll never happen mid season, but since mid last season I have firmly believed Owens and Bussey are playing each other's roles. Ftr, I don't think Owens has more than a gadget role on a top four SEC team, while I think Bussey has 8-12 carries per game rb ability. I'm very concerned about the rb room if Moss doesn't return to full strength. By the end of the season, it won't surprise me to see Bussey or Morrow starting.

I was pretty apparent that last night they were really trying to work on the passing game and get the new receivers involved. Didn't seem like they were too focused on running the ball.

On a positive note, they gave up 0 sacks.

2 plays. That's it. When grading the running game most look at the entire resume not just a couple plays. We had 9 bad runs out of 11 from our top RBs. But it was only 9 plays

My point is it is tough to analyze how good we will be running the ball when we only ran our RB 13 times.

UTSA stacks the box as a base defense so it wouldn't have made a ton of sense to force runs against it. We aren't any good and will be 7-5 or 6-6, but that was the reason for lack of run game last night.
