I'd be interested in knowing how this is calculated. Clearly it's weighted more for disastrous seasons where the team started overrated. Historically I've noticed that texas, Miami, and Notre Dame start ranked higher than they finish almost every year. Oklahoma post-Bob Stoops and USC post-Pete Carroll as well. These are cases where the brand far exceeds the product.

Regarding the easily overhyped sips, If you go back to 2010, the sips were over ranked significantly from 2010 to 2013. Also, A&M has outperformed tu since 2010 and tu has had some low expectations at times due to repeated poor performance, thus reducing the amount they were over ranked. Plus they were in the Big 12 - much easier to meet expectations. Meanwhile, A&M's scheduling was incredibly difficult over this time period making it hard to finish the season ranked.

Texas was even over ranked from 2001-2009 when it won 10 games 3 times, and 11+ the other 6 times.

I count -15 from that stretch.
