The toughest QB we will face will the the guy from SC, who is basically Marcel's talent on a frame like a tight end. See last year's game.

It is not a matter of if we will win the game. WE will Win...

But will our secondary be able to show vast improvement over 2024 results:

Communicate with one another - Cover 1-on-1 - Confuse the QB on our coverage tactics
OR
Will QB Owen McCowen - Expose weaknesses in our secondary - Coverage Issues - Etc.

This is my concern -
What are we showing the Notre Dame Offensive Coordinator...

While I fully expect we will will the game, your level of absolute confidence seems suspect given the Appalachian State disaster was not that long ago.

I predict an underwhelming win. This board (including me) will be in a meltdown.

Yep, this game screams: up by 10 at halftime, early score by UTSA to cut it to 3 that holds until the 4th, couple scores in the 4th quarter to win by double digits.

So we are worried about a quarterback with a completion percentage in the low 60s, on a team that went 0-6 last year on the road, with ahead coach whose record has gotten worse every year he's been at the school?

He will test the secondary if he knows the calls and coverages before the snap.

1) That is crazy

2) I would be astounded if this is not more prevalent than most people think. There is so much money flowing through the sport that just minor versions of this can make some third string player or assistant position coach a ton of money, and a lot of times may not even put the game in serious jeopardy.

Well historically neither are we unless you think 7-8 win seasons are considered good. We usually play down to the level of lesser teams and allow games to be much closer than they should have been. Given the epic collapse of Elko and team last year I see no reason to think differently this year or at least until they give us reason to.

Hey, at least the head coach is ahead. Of what or who he's ahead, I don't know.

If we have any problems with UTSA or this McCown kid, our 8-4 season is going to be in jeopardy.

While this is undoubtedly true, if Randy McCown blood runs thru his veins, he is hungry and will find ways to make you eat these words.

last year he had a really tough time making teams eat their words. Even Rice handled him.

Just an FYI McCown QB rating and QBR are worse than Reed's.

We are consistently good-not-great, unlike most other good-not great teams that are inconsistent. We've had one losing season since joining the SEC. Alabama and Georgia have zero (and Georgia had one in 2010). LSU has had one losing season and everyone else has had more than one (I think). We have the 4th best record in the SEC (excluding tu and Oklahoma) since joining, behind the three teams listed above, and that is with a schedule that is has usually been one of the hardest in the nation.

I do consider 8 wins in the SEC to be "good". I don't want to just be "good", though. That being said, UTSA is not "good" and to try to equate us to them is stupid.

UTSA is about as "good" as Bowling Green, Arkansas, and Miss St.. TAMU stuggled with all three of these scrubs last season.

UTSA will have a more potent offense this year. Do your research.

UTSA was way worse than them last year.

Ok UTSA may have been able to beat MSU

If A&M goes up 38-10 in the third and pulls the starters and then backups give up some late points to win 38-20 that wouldn't be a huge deal.

If the game is 31-21 midway through the 4th and A&M scores to put it away 38-21 that would be concerning.

In all fairness, between UTSA having high expectations this year, and Clanga ... not, UTSA might actually be the better team between those two. Arkansas is still a tier or two above that, though. Arkansas was also the only team of the above that we struggled with last year as well, though we had some pretty disappointing performances against the other two in letdown spots.

Do your research.

Oh, A&M should win this game. Don't get me wrong. However, if we learned anything from Elko last season is that his teams don't get up for inferior opposition.

UTSA can score a bunch of pts, combined with A&M looking ahead points to a close, high-scoring gane.

Quite a difference this year than in the past. Historically, this would be about the time that peak optimism begins to show. Aggies everywhere, old and young, have convinced themselves that THIS is the year. We're stocked on both sides of the ball. We can't see the weaknesses that are right in front of our faces. We may not win a natty, be we will certainly be in the last game.

This year, subdued expectations for 8-4.

BAS has finally taken its toll.
Definitely not "stocked on both sides of the ball". Lol. Starting with QB.

Their OFEI was 102 last year. That's out of 134 teams. They are not good offensively.

For reference Bowling Green was 76 and New Mexico State was 129, our two worst offenses we faced.

Well, Reed and our OL will probably be a much bigger test to the UTSA defense with ZERO returning starters. So theres that. UTSA should not be able to keep pace even if they put ip some points.

We almost never beat these kinds of teams the way we should. Other teams beat their creampuffs 56-0 and we usually scrape by 35-17 or something like that. Hopefully this year will be different. We will see.

UTSA found their footing mid-season and averaged 42 pts/gm the last seven games going 5-2.

They can score with that QB.

Yep, we should beat them by 50+ and they shouldn't cross the 50 unless our second team is in late in the 4th. There isn't a player on their team that would be in our 3-deep. If we don't completely dominate them, we're in for a long year.

Just look at it this way, if Georgia, Ohio State, or other contender played them, they would pick the score.

OFEI takes a lot into considrration. And let's not pretend like they wete playing difficult games. They put up points agaisnt weak teams.

McCowan had several bad games. And he only threw for 25 TDs and 10 INT, 6 of those INT were in the last 4 games. He only threw 5 TDs in the last 4 games. McCowan wasn't great.

Wasn't it R.C. who said when we play teams that give scholarships and pay their coaches, they sometimes give up trouble?
