so wxplain the 0n3 recruiting ramkings where they show avg NIL per player. We are around 90k and Bama Texas and 10 or 15 others around 180k, if im interpreting that right.

This is incorrect...we aren't this high...maybe just inside top 10, but that's debatable a bit. ND has outspent more than 1/2 of these teams (including us), and there are a couple of others right up there (like PSU, Clem on holding onto their recruited players, Bama spending like everyone else, UNC has given Belichick lots of funding, SMU has more funding than most now too...just hasn't spent, yet).

On3 devises this by trying to triangulate what a player 'may' get paid and extrapolating. Always take their info w a grain of whatever floats your boat.

Betting they will after we missed on Lamar (tu has several 5 star possibilities...highest ranked at positions still).

Elko and staff have done a wonderful job and esp impressed we have locked guys in (not looking anymore as there were 3-4 that were heavily chased that thought were going to become 50/50 to hold onto).

I don't look at total score as much because like SC has the #1 class on 247 but mainly because they have 31 commits. What you gotta have is top end dogs. I'd take Bama's class right now with 7 in the top 100 and 2 more just barely out of it. But they have the 8, 12, 14, and 26 ranked players so they're top end loaded. USC has 7 and 1 barely out. We have 5 in the top 100, tOSU has 5, Georgia has 7, and sips have 8 and probably going to 9 after Sunday. Depth is great but you can also build depth through the portal. Getting the big dogs is where you see teams really separate themselves. Also getting the dogs at the right positions, especially QB, edge, WR, CB.

Objectively sure, but even two decades later the 13-0 run with the W over USC's superteam in 2005 feels more incredible than pathetic as a Texas fan (the 3 Royal championships in the 60s and 70s were before my time too).

VY leading Texas to an 11-1 season and a Rose Bowl win over Michigan the season before was a perfect predicate. The 2009 13-1 team that lost to Bama in the championship was pretty fun too.

Since then Sark has come the closest to keep Mack Brown futility, but he'll need to do better for longer to match OYT's legacy. Even multiple loss teams can be a lot of fun. Texas in '98 with Ricky Williams and A&M with JFF in 2012 were a blast with the Heisman winners.

You can't get bogged down by the fact that the two flagships have a lot of resources so they should have x amount of titles.

I thought all of the NIL payments were private contracts between an entity (booster, collective, corporation, etc.) and a player. So how does anyone know what any school's supporters are spending?

Both A&M and the horns are typically going to recruit well in football and have lots of talent. They are the two huge flagship schools (Godzilla and Kong) in one of the largest states in the country and both have passionate fan bases willing to spend money.

plus recruits from Texas high schools tend to get over-rated / over-starred a bit

not all of them but enough of them to throw off the rankings

This is what texas does: they miss on a bunch of guys but then come up with a big nil package to land a 5 star

There's a decent chance that their class ends up ahead of ours in the end because they spend to get the high end guys

They've done it the last 3 cycles

"College football" sports journalism is nothing more than fan dorks who don't have real jobs making infographics for social media.

It's why they'll continue to beat us more often than not. They will pay whatever it takes to make sure they have better players than we do. We definitely aren't landing blue chip 5 stars at the same rate they are.

Cow was the best three loss team in college football. Got humiliated by Georgia at home, and again in the SEC championship game. They should have lost to Arizona State but Ohio State broke them down physically. They paid a quarterback 3 million annually to sit on the bench for two years. He couldn't beat out a seventh round draft pick. Tech has never won an outright conference championship in their history. Money can't solve all problems.
