I don't think anybody knows anything in regards to how much teams are spending: paying players.
Saying that probably still 8-4 ish.

Miami and Michigan I knew were at the top of the food chain $$$$

If you don't think Tech is that high, you're not paying attention. Cody Campbell is using his Double Eagle war chest to fund the program, because why not? You can't take it with you.

In recent memory, last 10/15 years, we have accomplished what? A Heisman, a Cotton Bowl Win, Orange Bowl Win, trip to the finals in Omaha, and what else?

TTU Athletics has baseball and basketball success, though no championships, and football is spending like crazy, I believe they will win the Big 12 and make the playoffs well before we win the SEC or make the playoffs as a 5-12. I don't like that fact, but its the way things are trending.

If Tech were that high, their overall recruiting class would be a lot better.

Buying the best pitcher in softball that is known is one thing. That one can elevate you quickly in that specific sport.

But throwing money at one LT but the rest of the class is a typical tech recruiting class. That's not going to elevate them.

With their resources and known advantages. See ASU game last season where they are gifted the win. Only winning 1 is pathetic.

Overspent? I don't think Texas is worried on how their going to pay their next recruit (especially considering who they signed yesterday). Overspending is paying a coach $77 million to NOT coach.

Was this truly directed at me? I was pointing out to the other user that 8 of those programs have accomplished winning at a high level and are competitive. tceh is blowing its load now but they hadn't been. A&M has had about as good of fan support and resources as anyone for decades.

Im not sure why our fans run to these types of threads to poke fun of other programs.

I'll never stop being amazed that somebody looked at the world and all of the issues we deal with and that person(s) thought the very best use of their millions of dollars was to buy out a football coach to ensure his next 5 generations of family are set for life, all so he won't coach football at A&M.

Meanwhile.. college football is going to suffer long term. This is terrible even if we benefit from having deep pockets. I hate NIL (in it's current configuration.) I am OK with kids getting paid, but if you will stay in college over going pro because it pays better........

And that impacts NIL spending how, exactly? My point is that the only real surprises on that list are the absence of Georgia and Bama and the decision of Tech to pick this year to get serious about NIL.

Also, since this is apparently the only way to measure success, let's not act like those two programs have more than (checks notes) 1 natty over the last quarter century.

Finally, my grandfather will be surprised to learn that he wasn't actually alive then, at that he apparently spontaneously came into existence in the middle of the war he fought in. Seems like a pretty cruel joke by someone.

Texas Tech is the #2 spender on NIL, and yet their incoming class isn't even in the top 25?
