Probably one sack for the season unless he did not skip the bowl game. Then I'd go with possibly 1.5 sacks. Not much in the way of stats, just like his last season in college.

If he goes back to school, the bengals retain his rights another year. So even if he could get his eligibility it would just put him back in the same spot his in.

They could trade his rights. Say if he filed suit and was allowed to come back. Had Al all SEC year. They may be able to trade his rights for a first and a second. Or a player and a pick, etc. I think it is toxic. Not a place you want to start a career.

Which is the biggest difference between MLB and NFL. MLB- the teams loses the rights to the player... so they have way less leverage.

8 hurries, and 4 sacks.
Or some other combination of 8 and 4.

I still don't get Clevelands strategy here. Are they going to do the same with future draft picks? Haven't they realized this approach isn't going to fly. What am I missing?

You're missing the fact that he was drafted by Cincinnati, not Cleveland.

So after reading this he was drafted by cincy but could play for A&M or Cleveland this year?

Does he not understand he is slotted and that's the money.

True. So with the correction same question.

I read that he is upset about language in the contract not the money. Specifically, the money would not be guaranteed if he violated conduct rules, either on- off-field. He says this wasn't included in contracts of last years first round pick.

He does. That's not what the fight is over.

The Bengals want to add a term that "default" by Stewart voids all guaranteed money.

So if he breaks his leg skiing this week, he loses 4 years of guaranteed money, rather than just from the year which it occurred.

So he can make more $ at A&M (or elsewhere) playing at the college level this year ?

If he came back to A&M (which is highly unlikely) he would go back into the draft next year and be eligible to sign with another team. That's my understanding. So the Bengals can either sign him, trade him or lose a high first round pick. The most likely outcome is that the Bengals finally sign him.

That's the issue. The terms. They are trying to **** him and make that normal

Your understanding is wrong.

Under the CBA, if he goes back to college the bengals retain his rights.

(Not trying to be rude, but this was previously explained to you.)

I mean when the CBA was created there wasn't even the possibility of going back to college so how would that be a provision? Not an expert but seems odd. Technically it's still not possible now until the first person does it.

There was always a possibility someone tired to challenge ncaa eligibility rules.

If Stewart somehow plays for us (which I highly doubt happen) he does not go back into the draft. The Bengals keep his rights. Thats 100% certainty
Gandalf the Maroon
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's already been pointed out that IF (and that's a big if) he was able to come back, the Bengals would still own his draft rights. Now I don't expect him to come back, but if he does, it wouldn't be about switching teams. It would probably be more of a if you won't give me a fair contract this year, I won't play for you, and we'll see if you make the same mistake next year. That's my opinion at least. But in all honesty, 99% chance he plays in the NFL next year.
