All I know is, actual contenders tend to score at least 45+ points and beat the ever living **** out of these types of teams to where it's a snooze fest by halftime or early 3rd quarter. Pretenders tend to make it uncomfortable and ugly for far too long, and win by 20 at the maximum.

We will probably win by 17-20 in this game, barely crack 30 points, and then make the same ole excuses such as "we just had a vanilla game plan offensively" "first game of the season" "trying to work out some kinks but we will be fine".

If I were you, bet on UTSA to beat the spread. Easy $.

Meh. UTSA has been a pretty decent team the past few years.

This exactly. The coaching staff needs to learn that good teams practice their full offense against their rent-a-wins.

How is Reed (or whoever's starting this year) gonna complete big time throws down 4 with 2:00 left against LSU on the road if he's never done that against the UTSAs of the world?

It will be 24-10 late in the 3rd quarter. UTSA will be inside the red zone about to score when they throw a pick six. We score again on a short field in the 4th to win 38-17. Our offense will be anemic. We will score 21 on turnovers and short fields. Our offense will only have 3 drives longer than 50 yards. All the Klein lovers will say it's because he kept it vanilla but the guys who know ball will see the same stale offense he ran in 2024. Reed will be a crisp 13-25 for 195 yards but 85 came on a busted coverage TD.

I'll be that guy. This board has become insufferable and overrun by miserable downers without ag tags.

21 points vs a decent cupcake isn't bad.

I'm not a downer. I've been optimistic on Aggie Football every year of my life until this year, as there's obviously reasons. I just can't get excited anymore about a product we pour excessive $ into and don't get the results to match it.

I will always watch A&M football and continue to attend games even though I've recently accepted the hard reality that we will always be mediocre and nothing will change until the athletic department is forced to do so.

Our concession stands are the mirror image example of it. Premium prices for an underwhelming product.

I haven't given up on Elko yet. I'm actually a big fan of him and hope he can get it done here. I'm really impressed with his recruiting so far. Now he just needs to show me ON THE FIELD. I'm done with being the champions of recruiting rankings, it's time to put it together and WIN.

UTSA was on par with West Virginia, Duke, and NC State last year.

Historically speaking, September games are not the problem for A&M. October is iffy and November has not been good.

This team needs to sustain the September success through November.

Remember a year ago when basically every SEC team, including us, beat their first G5 opponent by 40+? I'm sure you are right, though.

Several reports from the National Sports Media that UTSA is the favorite to join the new PAC 12.

I mean, there are reasons to be optimistic. Recruiting is heating up, Elko is in his 2nd year and whether it translates to the field or not seems to have more discipline and regiment to his program.

Looks like you purposefully chose this glass was half empty. Could have easily chose that this was easy money and made probably a stronger argument.

Texas State is offical now. They now have 8 football schools and 9 total. From what i heard they wanted to add 1 school and maybe a second but that was a maybe.

Yeah, we beat McNeese like we were supposed to, but then almost lost to Bowling Green.

I am not surprised that the spread against UTSA is 21 points, but I hope we exceed that by a substantial margin, such as a 45-10 win.

This UTSA team is probably than teams we have played in the past. I don't see them laying down, with the coach they have he will want to make a statement.

We are 17-23 (9-8 home and 8-15 away) in November or later SEC games, but that includes going 3-0 (1-0 home and 2-0 away) in November 2012 and 4-0 (1-0 home and 3-0 away) in November and December 2020. Outside of 2012 and 2020, we went 10-23 (7-8 home and 3-15 away) in November SEC games, including 0-3 in 2016 and 2024.

Hopefully, we can win 2 of our 3 November SEC games against Missouri (away) and South Carolina (home). I am expecting at least a home win over South Carolina. I am more worried about a road game at Missouri than home games against Florida and South Carolina. Both teams will be coming off a bye week, but we will be playing our 3rd road game in 4 weeks. Missouri has won 10 consecutive home games, including 8 against Power 4 opponents, since a 49-39 home loss to LSU on 10/7/2023. On the flip side, we have lost 12 of our last 14 true road games, and we have not won a road game in November or later since a 34-13 win at Tennessee on 12/19/2020. If we have another inexplicable late season loss as a favorite, Missouri is where it happens.

The last time we struggled against our first cupcake was 2017. Every other game was a 30+ point victory.

Moss and Reed will present big problems for teams that aren't solid at every defensive position. They'll present ground game problems for any team y'all play. Your OC will be good at using them.

I doubt UTSA can stand up to that combo for long especially since adjusting for that loosens up the pass defense.

I don't bet, but I'd give the points for easy money.
You mean we're here? And we're supposed to be here?

UTSA is better than most cupcakes that power teams start off the season with. That said we SHOULD beat the snot out of them anyway instead of having to dust off the ol' reliable excuses of "we don't want to give away the playbook" and "it's just first game rust"
