By the way, Jaylen Henderson is 2nd team at West Virginia under Coach Rich Rodriquez. Their starting QB is Nicco Marchiol whose brother Santino was an Aggie linebacker. Jaylen became the starting quarterback when both Conner Weigman and Max Johnson were injured. Henderson led the Aggies to a 55-10 win over Miss. State and a 38-10 win over Abilene Christian. He then started against at #14 LSU (loss 30-42) after which Coach Jimbo Fisher was fired. A&M then played Okla. State in the Texas Bowl. Henderson suffered a broken arm on the first offensive play and was replaced by Marcel Reed. Henderson entered the transfer portal and transferred to West Virginia. If you look.at our track record we seldom if ever get thru the season with just 1 qb. If the second string guy played more during real games the coach would have a better idea what his strengths and weaknesses would be.

This x1000. We should be trying to beat our rent-a-wins and garbage SEC opponents so badly we can sit the starter for the entire 4th quarter and make QB2 make throws against college teams in actual games.

Very odd behavior from Elko this season on this subject- against NMST, he takes Reed out with a few minutes left in 3Q (good, makes sense), then puts Weigman in, who he knows is injured. He lets Weigman stay in for 2 drives, leaving only one for O'Neill, the logical QB2 for the rest of the season.

If he's appeasing donors or helping fulfill some clause of an NIL contract (technically illegal to have a clause like that by my understanding), that's a big problem that needs to be addressed ASAP. If Elko legitimately thought that's how he should divvy up reps... that's even worse

We have had terrible luck keeping QBs healthy but that seems recent. Mond, stayed healthy. McGee did, Tanny did too

Yeah, he got injured in Game 2 his SR season. I don't think he played again except for a possession or 2 against tu.

I think Miles will play because we can't keep QBs healthy

Oh I know he's human. I know his name and everything bc he posts on FB on Aggie sites occasionally and the writing style is EXACTLY the same. Talks about when he was in Iraq etc

When was the last time we went in to fall practice not really knowing who QB1 was going to be? Mond/Starkle version 1?

Hopefully Miles is our QB sneak option. Would mind him in a heavy, goalline/short yardage package along with someone in the 275 range in the backfield.

Granted, this may be reading the tea leaves, but Reed didn't rotate in/out of the spring game as much as the other QBs did. And he's the only QB on the roster with appreciable SEC experience.

Reed's probably gonna be a not-really-contested QB1. Unfortunately…

Reed will obviously be the starter. Not sure how long he'll last though
