WTH do you want him to say, we've reached the top of what's possible? About the time I've decided Texags posters are making some headway, this kind of stuff creeps back in. SMH

How about, "I believe we are improving and will win more games than we did last season. Our goal is to win a championship, as it always is"

But for goodness' sake, man. Have a sense of your surroundings. Read the room. We are the most disappointing, underachieving team in the country almost every year and he goes with " We're gonna be the premier program in college football"???

And just 6 months after he engineered a massive 2nd half collapse?

That's just total obliviousness and dumb, dumb comment.

The road is brutal in the SEC. We have everything necessary to be a consistent Top 10 program. However, elite program runs always have one thing in common - an elite coaching staff. Even Bama struggled between Bear Bryant and Saban minus the natty win by Stallings. I've always believed it would take an elite coach 4-5 years to get us in the position of a top 10 program. Elko might be that guy; I hope he is. Chances are he's not. At a minimum, be the best conditioned and best coached team in the country. Graduate a decent number of players and pepper in an SEC title over the next 5-7 years and he'll be a coaching God at A&M. That should be the goal.

Elko started 7-1 (5-0 SEC) before losing 4 of his last 5 games, including 3 consecutive losses to end the season, to finish 8-5 (5-3 SEC). Our only win in that span was over New Mexico State, and we have lost 4 consecutive games to Power 4 opponents since a 38-23 win over LSU on 10/26. Dating back to a 42-30 road loss at LSU on 11/25/2023, we have lost 4 consecutive November SEC games and 2 bowl games for 6 consecutive losses to Power 4 opponents in November or later. We have not won beaten a Power 4 opponent in November or later since a 51-10 home win over Mississippi State on 11/11/2023 and a bowl game since a 41-27 win over North Carolina in the 2021 Orange Bowl on 1/2/2021.

Our schedule is very unbalanced with 3 straight SEC home games against Auburn on 9/27, Mississippi State on 10/4, and Florida on 10/11 before a stretch of 3 straight SEC road games against Arkansas on 10/18, LSU on 10/25, and Missouri on 11/8 in a span of 4 weeks. With that schedule, I think we will have a floor of 7-5 and a ceiling of 9-3 with likely road losses at Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas. The 5 road games at Notre Dame, Arkansas, Missouri, LSU, and Texas will make or break our season.

Hopefully, we can finish 9-4, win 2 of our 3 November SEC games against Missouri (away), South Carolina (home), and Texas (away), and our bowl game. Achieving all three of these things will show that Elko has us moving in the right direction because it would mean a much better finish than ending this past season with 4 consecutive losses to Power 4 opponents. Also, it would just be the 4th time that we posted a winning SEC record in November. We have had a losing SEC record in November ever year except for a 3-0 SEC finish in 2012, 2-1 SEC finish in 2018, and 4-0 SEC finish in 2020. We lost our last 4 SEC games in 2016 and our last 3 SEC games in 2024.

Yeah, if he doesn't realize how fortunate we were to win that LSU game, we might be screwed. I don't think he realizes based on that presser…

What do you want Elko to say?

"Yeah, I think we are going to uphold the history of this team since 2000".
