The end of an era. Obviously this has been due for a while, but still sad to see him go.

He was legendary, made the Game Day headgear selection a "thing," and deserves to go enjoy his retirement. Yes, it was time.

I haven't really watched gameday in several years, except pieces here and there, but it's always sad to see longtime sports personalities that you knew from when you were young, retire.

Lee al says seemed like a good dude to me, and my cousin who used to work for espn has said that he is a good dude.

I know most will only remember the last few years but his collective work is unmatched IMO. He IS the face and spirit of CFB and has been for my entire life. College Gameday used to be one of the best products ever aired and he was the centerpoint of it.

I agree it is time for sure of course but still bittersweet. End of an era. Glad I got to see him at his best and thankful for the good times and spirits. What a legend.

He's a legend, but it's gotten painful to watch him over the last few years. Sad to see him go, but it is for the best.

Good for Lee going out on his terms. Kirk Herbstreit, whether you like him or not, really helped Lee out these last few years and quite frankly, allowed him to remain a part of Gameday. Lee Corso was a Gameday staple and helped it gain the following and event status that it has become.

Love him or dislike him, he is a legend and was a big part of the success of the show.

I saw a few videos of him and Kirk H as they visited together in hotels, etc. Lee was always the same. Genuine guy that loves football. The relationship between those two is something special.

Never watch it, but it was painful watching clips of him.

Reminded me of Mary Holman Moody when they would trot her out at Indy drooling from both sides of her mouth.

Corso is a link to the ESPN we all enjoyed watching. Which is now gone.

Much like Dick Vitale, Corso loved his sport and was able to convey and transfer that love to his audience,

College football will miss him. He kind of reflects the end of a broadcasting era and the end of the sport that many of us grew up with.

Corso and Vitale, two old dogs that left their sport in a better place than when they entered it.

I don't share the disdain most do for Herbstreit, but he doesn't bring the fun factor that Corso did. Corso knew what he was talking about, but he also added color and entertainment. I don't really see anybody that does what he did. I'll miss him.

New symptom of Battered Aggie Syndrome--Upon learning that Corso is retiring, immediately thinking "Now he can't jinx us anymore when Gameday comes to College Station."

End of an era. He deserves sainthood for making college football so fun.

Made my introductory to college football during freshmen year that much more fun. It was sad the last few years watching him though. Overdue but never undervalued.

I only know Lee Corso from GameDay and the movie The Waterboy. Him retiring was overdue considering his infirmities, but I really did enjoy GameDay because of him. He made it fun with his knowledge of the game and the headgear. Will miss him not being on GameDay but it was time, if not for anything else, for his own good.
