EB's success recruiting him from that state championship program, along with the stellar class that joined him...when A&M had little to offer high profile recruits...speaks volumes about the job Emory did here. To me, EB started what A&M became in the modern era.

Blessings to the Osbornes, a great family with good athletes and values. I remember when Richard's younger brother died in a car accident in high school.

One of A&M's all-time great TE's during a mostly down time during our football's history.

Osborn was part of the resurgence of A&M football, going 3-8, 5-6, 8-3, 10-2 while he was here.

Richard came from a great family and was a humble young man despite his accomplishments (state champs and Texas HS player of the year who I believe ran back a kickoff in SA Lee's 28-27 title over Wichita Falls future teammate Carl Roaches.

He lost his 16 yr old brother Bruce when he was a senior at A&M. All four brothers were amazing athletes. Their parents were Auburn grads.

That first recruiting class of Emory Bellard was the start of the modern era of Aggie foot all and was probably the most beloved class in our history.

Simonini, Roaches, Osborne, Walker, Bean, Bujnoch, Ten Naple, Fields, Thonas.... The names roll off the tongue so easy.

Gig 'Em, Richard- good and faithful servant.

As a kid, my folks took me and my sister to a spring game. We went down on the track and got autographs from the players. He was one whose autograph I got.

I was probably 8 or 9. One of the players* whose autograph I wanted was standing in a group with his back to us. I spoke up to get his attention, and being raised a certain way, I said "Excuse me, Mr. Osborne?" I'm not sure how old he was, but he cracked up at being called "Mister."

(* - it was either Richard Osborne or Ed Simonini, I can't remember for sure which...)

I had thought that Carl Roaches was from Houston. But Osborne did run a kick off back for a TD in Lee's game against them. Pat Rocket also played with Osborne on that team with Tommy Kramer as QB.
I attended that game with my dad.

Bruce, his brother, was a top WR at SA Lee also when he played.

Carl Roaches was from Houston Smiley.

In the state championship game against Wichita Falls, Osborne ran back the 2nd half kickoff for a TD and caught the game winning pass from Tommy Kramer.

The Wichita Falls player referred to was Ronnie Littleton who played at TCU.
