i really hope we know what we are doing.
nobody does less with more

More money is more money. And this is a lot more money. Only us Aggies would find a way to complain about having more money.TheDecadeSapling said:
If you think we're gonna spend that money on better players, you're a silly goose
It seems like entirely too long a contract. Pretty sure A&M is hosed on the back end.Kozmozag said:
15 year seems crazy in a ever increasing market.
Alabama just signed a 15 year deal with Learfield. Ohio State, Michigan signed 10 year deals with Learfield roughly 2 or 3 years ago, so they'll come up again before we do in the early 2030's. However, Learfield since the merger with IMG and after COVID has been rumored to be hurting, and deals signed with programs like these have not been highly publicized and generally been considered to only be under the same terms or only modest escalators from existing contracts. Other schools (Florida State, UCLA, were apparently approached to renegotiate to get Learfield out of trouble)Stonegateag85 said:
It'll look like pennies when Bama, UGA, UF, sip etc come up for bid.
Texas A&M’s new partner, @PlayflySports is a DEI-driven, far-left corporation that’s values include favoring LBGTQIA+, BIPOC, and Women+ (whatever the hell that means) pic.twitter.com/LBLmmpwi99

Typically these seem to be structured so that the school ostensibly gets 50-65% from what Ive seen. That would imply that the Playfly believes they can sign endorsements and rights deals earning $50-60 million per season or more.AGDAD14 said:
Strictly from a business investment opportunity… what kind of return are they making on paying A&M $34M a year?
I want to see that economic model and assumptions before I invest in that company.
Learfield and IMG (the other two main players in this space) have the same type of stuff. This isn't an either/or thing.Bad Poster said:

Somewhat odd they sign something this big with a big DEI driven focus, but ban draggieland.

Hopefully, a 15-year $515 million dollar deal with Playfly Sports will translate to more wins.

I remember reading about us doing something like this in the past with a football coach. Can't remember how it worked out.
At least we're receiving the money this time and not paying.

This tells me it won't be long until the big boys are doing deals of $800 million or $900 million.

I have a suggestion, how about winning consistently on the field. I'm sure some fans would put down their commemorative 12th man cups and $39 chicken wrap to watch their team win meaningful games.
It's not based on A&M winning. Trev signed over A&M's broadcast/digital rights to a commie-philosophy loving activist company for 30 pieces of silver because Aggie fans are loyal to a fault.el_guapo said:
Surely their bet isn't relying on us winning or they made a stupid decision

Yep, no way this turns out like the ACC GOR deal.HoustonAggie37713 said:Exactly. All we did was set the floor. Now the big boys come in with $800 million-$1 billion deals.Whaler said:
How can anyone say this is a good deal or not?
What will Ohio State, LSU, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, tu, and others get for similar services?
I don't have confidence in our leadership, but on a deal that long (15 years) hopefully we have some sort of "most favored nation clause" so we remain compensated near the top or we're released to negotiate with someone else.
