Exciting news with ATH- DL Jermaine Kinsler committing today.

That gives the Aggies 9 commitments thus far and #2 in the current 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Thanks for the update.
Clear something up for me if you would please Hunter.
I'm a little confused by you're using "gained" or "dropped" regarding the recruiting rank.
Intuitively I certainly understand what those two terms mean.
However, on the rankings i'm not sure I'm interpreting it correctly.
For instance you have Markel Ford rated at number 28 safety in the US.
I assume that's his current ranking as you stated he has "dropped" 54 spots since November 2024.
Therefore, he was rated at number 82 safety when he committed to A&M.
Is that correct?

I think Hunter means that Markel Ford is currently ranked as the #443 prospect. He dropped 54 spots since November, so before that, Markel Ford was ranked as the #389 prospect.

Correct. It refers to each player's overall ranking rather than specific position.

Cool start I guess but overall rankings are meaningless in February.

Honestly, i think they are meaningless for every team after the first season cuz so much roster movement after that.

I agree,

But I do believe in Elko & Co. evaluations because they seem to target character and leadership in addition to talent.

The proof will be in the results in a couple of years. And I think it will be there.

Weird year. Traditional leaders are barely getting started. tOSU, Bama, Georgia all out of the top 10. This will all change of course. I wonder if teams are holding off to let NIL stuff settle before making offers. Bama only has 1 commit. Last year it seemed like the big dogs all had 10+ pretty early in the cycle but maybe I'm not remembering that right.

It's not a weird year: it's February. Those schools will all be at the top by November.

It's funny. I've lurked here for decades and I'm trying to care about recruiting trends like I always have. But it's slipping away. I don't care because most of these guys won't be here in four years. A lot won't make it past next month if a better deal comes along.. We're all just hoping for deep pockets to appear and catch lightning in a bottle once in a while. The whole thing has become dumb.

We already have a high 4* QB signed, Helaman Casuga. He has a composite of .935 and Im sure him committing helped with the commitment of Jerome Myles, both from the same HS.

One of the biggest thing that sticks out to me is we're recruiting height for WRs which I like. Might be a coincidence, but I like long receivers rather than the 5'10" - 6' athletes which we had seemed to have a lot of.

Fair point. I wonder how much that plays into a WRs decision, especially since they're a year apart from each other. Grabbing the Celina kid could keep the North TX pipeline up. Watched him play this year and interested to see where he ends up.

Speaking of NTX, Lathon Latiolais is intriguing to me. Not a long WR, but incredible quickness out of Prosper.
