Not it doesn't. Ryan Day told his boosters last year that if they gave him $20 million then he could keep and get the players he needed from the portal to win a championship.

I don't like it either but it is the current state of the game. Either evolve or wait till next year!

It's one thing to have a stacked roster like osu and go out and buy a few key pieces to put you over the top.
It's a completely different thing to try to go out and buy a whole roster which is what our situation is a lot closer to.

We got more talent that most schools - we just need to coach and develop them better.

Nice. If he could do as well at Miami for unsubstantiated money from a less talented program (but arguably a better QB) he might be as well positioned for the draft as he is now if everything goes perfectly.

Kind of a prove it deal where there's nothing but downside.

He got paid to go to the school his girlfriend was at. He's nothing special.

Begins with recruiting, but if you're not building on that and creating NFL prospects, it doesn't matter.

And the number of players we put into the NFL Draft each year is a helluva lot closer to TTech and MissSt than it is to UGA, Bama, Mich, OhSt….and lately even t.u.

Those teams put in 10-ish.
We put in 3-ish

Until that starts changing, the whole Texas 8&4 thing won't be changing either

. Elko is a coach who can win the National Championship. Ohio State fans have wanted Day gone for years. As a matter of fact they wanted him gone after losing to Michigan the last game of the season. Texas fans wanted Sark gone after his first season, Alabama wanted Saban gone after his first year. There are many other examples of the same. Elko won more games than either of them in year one. Fans usually have no idea if a guy is an excellent coach or not after one season.
