Yeah right. Less support will help make us better .
Maybe not, but with that much heft, there's a lot of bang to the buck in conditioning the $$$ our fanbase pays in tribute to ESPN et al. + those suckling at their ttt on how fairly we get treated, in every phase, from recruiting to scheduling to the zebras to CFP selection.

Maybe setting up in-house offerings to host those $$$ flows -- out of ESPN's reach -- would be a credible threat. Anything we outsource that puts a dime onto Disney's bottom line? Insource it. Start nibbling at the edges of actual media rights. Do this enough times and they'll start to care whether or not we realize that our program gets regularly shafted in ways no other program on that list does...

Your projection doesn't mean squat . Actual performance does .

What we have been doing is hiring new coach's and letting them run with it 5-6 yrs … well past what should be a normal evaluation period even when the performance isn't there . I am not advocating for that . No one knows for sure if a coach is going to work or not . There are no guarantees. Pick one , see how it goes in a 3 yr evaluation period considering the trends and performance you actually see on the field , and then cut bait if the trends and performance aren't tracking according to your expectations. Changing course after a yr is not the right choice . After 2 … maybe if things are not getting better or are degrading . After 3 … yes definitely change course if things aren't clearly getting better .

In none of those scenarios does dropping your support help. Express displeasure to someone that has a say … great . ***** and moan on Texags …. Fine . Stop supporting the program or caring … that's ok too …. Personal decision … but don't think it helps anything after 1 season of a new coaching staff.

Probably includes our 600M stadium and other very expensive facilities. We're the kings of built it and they won't come.

Well at least we are the highest ranked school that hasn't won a football championship in the past 85 years or so. So we got that going for us.

Yiu viiofbt get a coach for less than their current salary and remaining contract to consider switching jobs. Just like you wouldn't do it.

Oh awesome, SteveA is here with his "look in the mirror" schtick yet again.

We get it dude. It's like a big gnarly pimple on the nose. There is no need to mention it over and over, we are well aware.

Have not read the whole thread, but you guys have to realize a&m has middle of the pack at best financially 25 years ago. The older guys will remember our facilities in the 90's, sub par to just about every Hugh school in Texas, then not today. The tide really turned in 2012, for obvious reasons. Couple that with the fact that A&M was a small all male military school until the seventies, and you will not see a long history of athletic success. Now, I'm not saying we don't underachieve, but my guess is 90% of our natty's in various sports were all in the past 20 years or so. We need to do better, but any old SWC school that doesn't have a winning percentage against A&M is probably pretty awful. That's why I laugh when sips bump their chest out over the series record in football all. Hell, you better have that kind of record considering what A&M was for most of the last century.

We're on there due to alumni donations. The rest are earning revenue more so, I believe.

Fair points

Back in the 90s A&M was consistently top 3 in terms of enrollment (along with sip & tOSU) and about 20-25 years past its small military school days. We're still top 3 in terms of size now (Wikipedia) FWIW.

So financially those 90s grads have collectively gotten rich & been giving back since the JFF days. The question is: how long to translate financial success into true elitehood?

My entire argument here is that we are no longer limited by demographics or finance, but rather now by the myriad glass ceilings that the "elites" from 50-100 years ago have emplaced (including ESPN's long-term jump into bed with sip). Look at NCAA sanctions, treatment from ESPN (remember when they wanted to start putting HS recruits on the Longhorn Network?) and other media, consistent losses in games where officiation tips the balance, and the consistent postseason screwovers we get (not just 2020 CFB but also baseball & basketball in recent memory). Now maybe NIL neuters the glass ceiling due to NCAA sanctions ... but we'll have to see. I think portal tampering may be the new frontier for entrenched elites to leverage favorable regulatory treatment & media potrayals to consistently undermine their un-anointed peers.

So I don't see time (just wait another decade or two) as the solution to these glass ceilings. There are many, much more direct ways to shatter them. Bjork was completely sackless in going after them. Jury's still out on Trev Alberts. If we need to bring in Bowtie or Bullet Bob, let's start on it now...

get the B1G on line 1
There are more than a few who have been saying, for several years now, that the BIG will eventually be in Texas one way or another.

When, not if it happens, the biggest surprise is going to be the number of people surprised by it.
You can count on the Administration fumbling the ball on this one too. Guess who will be that addition to the B1G when they invade the state of Texas? I almost guarantee that it'll be TCU. Once again, the opportunity knocks and A&M fails to answer the door.

I could see the BIG taking Texas tech in a world where the Big 12 dissolves. But I don't see them taking tcu

OK, maybe it won't be TCU but you can bet your sweet cheeks A&M will not take advantage of joining a forward thinking confernce. Possibly SMU will move on from the ACC. I was criticized for suggesting A&M to the B1G when tu was invited years ago (that was considered trolling too). That suggestion isn't looking so stupid right now is it? BTW, the only trolling happening is tu further surpassing us with questionable administration/BMAs decisions. Besides all that, A&M MUST make a calculated move or it's lights out for this football program for decades to come.
