I'm not up to date on the a lot of the NIL stuff, but l've heard crazy numbers thrown around for skill positions.

Are the OL pulling those kinds of numbers or could you build a truly dominant OL for pennies on the dollar?

I can't help to think a great OL would make all the skill positions look significantly better, and it's certainly been a weak spot over the last 4-5 years. I keep hearing the sec (etc) is won in the trenches, but we've been consistently struggling on half of that equation for far too long.

So what's the hang up?

I've heard rumors of our incoming OL from Mesquite Horn getting $100k a week

Quality OL don't tend to enter the portal as often as skilled players and are likely very high $$$ when they do. My guess is because they require more development and so by the time they are proven they have more years at their current school and are less likely to bail.

I think numbers like this are 100% made up. It is laughable if anyone believes we are giving a HS kid with no actual college reps 5+ million.

Remember when lil bro had a new coach, coming off a bad season - then bam landed the top OL class in the country - pancake factory - and it was $150k total per player….the mkt has changed

That's what I said. My source is two people at his high school. I said surely it's either $100k flat, or, at most, that much per week on game weeks.

I personally think a lot of these rumored NIL deals are severely inflated when compared to reality.

I don't find it that crazy. I have a nephew at 6A school whose teammate is an OL commit/signee for a team that was in the CFP this year. He told us the kid gets $20k a week. And he's a 3*/4* type player.

I think numbers like that are ridiculous, and not defending it. Makes me not even care about CFB anymore, but $100k a week for a highly sought after recruit is probably high, but within the market for a struggling team if they think they have an immediate contributor/game changer type player.

100K a week, at least for a year, would put a player at the exact same level Travis Hunter is on -- $5.2 million a year -- and we'd ALL know about it. 20K a week, again for the whole year, is still just over a million. At that rate, you're getting REAL CLOSE to top 25 type money.

Now, if they're talking game weeks, the 20K is possible but I still doubt 100K.

The more I look in to this, the less interest I have in college athletics as a whole, regardless of sport.

I could see $100K flat but $100k per game week is unlikely. If it's per game week it's probably closer to $50k or less for a true fish.

Not sure about high school OL, but the top notch transfer OTs are more highly sought after than any other position outside QB. Actual great LTs at any level are hard to find, most are better suited at RT or the interior. Very few schools have draftable players at that spot, even less have true depth if their starter goes down.

That number is 100% made up too

Nobody is paying a mid level HS lineman (with probably a 50% or less "hit" rate for being even a quality starter) a million bucks per year.

I believe people are telling you that but there is no way that is happening.

No one is giving 1mm to a 3/4 star guy.

Right now, the biggest collectives I believe are between 20-25mm for 85 players.

Now, maybe outside deals/endorsements? I can't say. But as a collective, no one is giving 1 mm for a 3/4 star type guy.
JDCAG (NOT Colin)

And that 20-25 is probably very disproportionally going to the high end guys.

I bet 15 players account for 75-80% of that with the other 60+ getting 20-25% spread amongst them.
