Pro Football Reference has a "Hall of Fame Monitor" measure that looks at stats and awards.

Von Miller 100.48 - #8 OLB all-time, Avg modern OLB in HOF is 103.48. He's a lock.

Myles Garrett 74.64 - #19 DE all-time, only 29 years old so will rise. Avg modern DE in HOF is 104.09. Probably a lock if he keeps playing a few more years.

Shane Lechler 63.68 - that's #1 for a punter ever. Ray Guy is only HOF punter and is 52.33. Next punter in the HOF, if they ever let another punter in the HOF.

Mike Evans 71.79 - #41 for WRs. Avg modern HOF WR is 101.40. Still has work to do. Consistency will help with 11 1k seasons, but only has 2 seasons as 2nd team All-Pro. Harder to get in if you were never the best in the game. But if he keeps stacking 1000 yard seasons he will probably make it eventually.

How did Lester Hayes not get in ?

Because some his success has been attributed to stick-um by some. He was told to use it by a HOF WR. Other HOF receivers admitted to using it. He should be in.

The only other possibility I could think of would be Jake Matthews. 11 year starter, started every game he's played, but only 1 Pro Bowl.

HOFm shows 35.48, average HOF OT is 95.

So very consistently good, but probably not HOF material.

What about Michael Bennett?

Not really a stretch. He protected HOF Dan Marino's blind side from HOF Bruce Smith for a decade and rarely gave up a sack.

HOF Monitor: 74.43 -- avg for a T is 95.50. It could still happen as there are a few with lower scores, but it has been over 20 years since he played, so getting pretty unlikely.

Ray Childress - 5x all pro, 5x pro bowl, and sold more trucks than anyone else in Texas

Lester Hayes - 2x Super Bowl wins, all decades team, Def PotY, 2x all pro, 5x pro bowl

Richmond Webb - all decades team, 7x pro bowl, 4x all pro

Kevin Smith - tore ACL in 4th season. Returned and was really good, but perception was that he never was 100% again. Still all pro and won 3 super bowls

Ray Childress, Rich Webb & Shane Lechler definitely deserve some serious consideration on this Hall pass.
Lester Hayes should be on the list right below them, too.

Miller, Garrett and Evans are next generation Ags that can be argued for a spot.
