Except for every single time his feet were staggered except one play that I saw, he threw the ball.

I saw a few were it didn't happen. Not enough to debunk but honestly I personally did not see enough to confirm it either.

I think I'd need to see more evidence of this actually happening rather than a handful of plays put together leading everyone to believe the same is true every play. There's a lot put out there on the internet now for attention.

IIRC, someone re-watched every play of the AU game and concluded it was true (Staggered = pass, parallel = run) for ~90% of the plays.

Don't know about USC, but the game thread pointed to it being true a handful of times.

Y'all are falling for the long-con. They are setting up for next year when we torch the entire SEC who will be caught staring at Reeds shoe placement.

Although the feet pre snap is an alarming issue, how about checking his feet during the play. His feet in the pocket and right before he makes a throw are erratic, jumpy and never set properly. I am not an expert but if you just watch him he is almost never set, almost always jumps when releasing the ball and is hopping around the pocket too much.

I think if he could just have a little more control and calm down a little some more accurate passes may come of it. But he needs to be able to read the defense properly and take what is given. He missed many wide open crossing receivers in order to take the harder pass. Most of the time he waited too long which resulted in him throwing under duress and then his jump pass footwork comes into play because he doesn't/can't set his feet.

Again, he is a Freshman so I surely think he will progress into next year. I truly hope that we have finally found that dual threat we needed in order to compete at a high level. In college I feel you either need the QB that truly understands the position and is a surgeon with a tad bit of athleticism OR you need the athletic QB who can make the throws but threatens the run multiple times a game to keep defenses on their toes and always concerned about him taking off.

Mond's last year was better than for sure. But the development was definitely a marathon not a sprint…

Reed started fewer games too

Reed is better than Mond through at this same stage, through 2 years. Reeds passer rating and TD/int ratio is better than any season from Mond other than his SR year. Reed has been far more dynamic with his legs, too.

As a 2nd year player, Mond threw for 57.3% completion, and a 24:9 TD/Int ratio. Rating of 135.0

Even as a 3rd year guy, Mond had less of a TD/int ratio lower rating than Reed in his first half season. 20:9 and 131.1 rating.

Reed was 61.3%. With a 15:6 TD ratio and a rating of 142.1.

Now, Mond played all year. His longevity and durability were top notch. Reed still has to prove he can play a whole year. But at this same stage in their careers, Reed was slightly better as a passer and much better as a runner.

Mond played 10 games his Sr. year (all against SEC teams and the bowl). Reed played 10 games and started 9. Reed's stats include games against McNeese, Bowling Green, and New Mexico St.

Mond had a better completion %, yards per game, and QB rating in addition to total yards and TD/Int. ratio.
