Because those farm kids don't want to travel hundreds of miles away for school, and they have nothing better to do than focus on Football.

Something to be said for kids who know how to work

If they win today, and it looks like they will, again, over the past 14 years the Bison would have won 10 national championships with four different coaches.

How does that happen?

Edit: correction not 15 years, but 14

North Dakota State happens to have been involved in the greatest college football game ever (back when they were still playing outdoors).

They almost always have 5-6 NFL players, plus the overlooked midwest solid players Tough kids that grow up wrestling. Consistent scheme, which ironically is much like what Klein runs.

We all know the answer but don't want to say it. It all starts with character.

I think it's because the Montanas and the Dakotas don't have FBS schools and aren't recruited heavily by outsiders. Also some of the good perspectives mentioned above.

If NDS closes this game out it will be their 10th National Championship since 2011.

Make sure everyone enjoys watching this recording because we will never see conditions like that, live ever again.

Chris Klieman, HC Kansas State since 2019....prior, Klieman was HC North Dakota State 2014 to 2018 and held other position coaching roles from 2011 at NDSU. 2022/2023 Collin Klein OC/QB left Kansas State for Texas A&M. I think you see some of Klieman's NDSU philosophy coming out in Klein...maybe..

They have excellent coaching and a culture of excellence. There is a lot of oil money in North Dakota and they support their team.

They are the flagships of the state in areas where recruiters aren't flocking to in droves - they do well in the line spots consistently as they don't rely on tons of skill guys

They also tend to remain at the same school for the full four years, rather than one or two years max.

Aquin, go look at their roster on their website. Here's a hint, they are certainly far from a bunch of lunch pail kids. What a dumb take.

I watched the game, and I must say that I was surprised by the high quality caliber of play from both teams. Some of the catches by NDSU's receivers were unbelievable and the QBs both played quite well. Overall, I was impressed ... and thought how nice it would be to have a downfield passing game.

Not saying they havent earned their titles, but most of their harder competition jumped to FBS in recent years. Also, they are close enough to the midwest to get the kids overlooked by the P5 programs so they can still pull decent talent whereas most of the rest of FCS is in even more remote parts of the country or schools that have zero financial backing due to being far down the totem pole in their region

I think this is the main thing. They don't have a lot of big egos on the team who make business decisions when they're primed to go to the next level. They get good athletes who want to play football.

I have a supplier that lives in the Chicago burbs who's son played for NDSU. His only D1 offers were from some FCS teams around that area, and everything else was D2-3. He chose NDSU and went on to be a starting DB for them for 2 years and has 4 national championships. Coupled with some cleat chasers to keep him warm, and not a bad college career.

There are no P5 or even G5 schools in the Dakotas and Montana. No NFL teams. So they are essentially the main event in each state and get a lot of fan support.

FCS football is fun to follow and underrated sports entertainment. It's nice to see more FCS games being televised in recent years even if broadcast quality isn't the greatest.

So is not understanding this.

All sports have a hotbed for players who can't qualify for Div1. Texas and Kansas Juco's for baseball. Navarro, Hutchinson, or Trinity Valley and such for basketball.

Those schools have a pedigree equivalent the "blue bloods" of Div 1 college football. Maybe even more so.

To say it's ridiculous is naive at best.

Have you ever watched, in person, a FCS or DII game? Last year I watched Pitt State in the 3rd or 4th round of the playoffs. The vast majority of the players on the field are not close to the athletes on power 4 team. I'm not denigrating them at all, just pointing out what I observed. DII is fun to watch and in my opinion most of those kids have a higher effort level than what I see from a lot of DI players.

Now as far as the Dakotas being powerhouses, I have no clue how they do it year in and year out.
Covidians, Communists, CNN, FOX, and all other MSM are enemies of the state and should be treated as such.
