Mike Evans and given where he is statistically it's not even close. Maybe Myles Garrett can give him a run for his money but he's got to play at a very high level for a long time in the NFL to get there.

It's truly amazing what Mike Evans has achieved in the NFL.

And I remember thinking he may not be fast enough (4.53- 40).

WOW what a career! Congrats to Evans!!

Name the best A&M football player, based on his College AND Pro Careers..

If you include Pro COACHING success, I think it comes down to 6 names…

Mike Evans
Shane Lechler
Gary Kubiak
Dan Campbell
Von Miller
John David Crow

If Lechler player any other position other than punter this would be a no brainer.

I'd go with Von probably. Super Bowl MVP
Do any of the others have that hardware? Mike Evans and his records put him so close to Von

Go ask your non A&M friends to name the top 3-5 WRs in the game over the last 10 years and not many will say Evans. He has been a steady performer but all pro only 2x and pro Bowl 5x.

Now ask them the same question about the best defensive players and you will get Von and Myles from many of them.

As for a more detailed analysis:
Myles is a perennially candidate for defensive player of the year and has already won it once. All pro 3x. Pro bowl 6x. These totals are likely to go higher since he is in the prime of his career. Only Aggie selected overall #1 in the draft.

Von is 3x all pro and 8x pro bowl. He has won a SB MVP and 2 rings but the MVP is for one single game and rings are more about getting to be on the right team.

Shane Lechler 6x all pro and 7x Pro Bowl. For many years considered the best punter in football. Sorry Shane, but I can't vote for a punter for this title.

As a result of the DPOY and what will likely be the most all pro seasons, this is Myles' title going away with Von second and Lechler third. I think the world of Evans but at no point in his career has he been considered the then current best WR or even really in the conversation. He is Mr Steady and likely will make the HoF but it certainly won't be first ballot.

PS. Lester Hayes is worth mentioning as he was a Defensive Player of the Yesr in 1980 and has an NFL named after him.

The question was about the player who was the best in college and NFL. As good as Tannehill was in the NFL, he was just average here at A&M. His only season as a true starter we went 6-6

All-American at A&M, College Football HOF, played 16 years in the NFL.

Last eight years playing in NFL as cancer survivor. Rehabbed as coach with Ags.

I hear what you are saying but Mike Evans has only played 3 more years than Myles G and has more TDs (105) than Myles has sacks (102.5).

Not to mention all the yards that Evans has during his career. I think almost all NFL fans definitely know who Mike Evans is and he is a sure Hall of Famer.

Richmond Webb is a 7 time Pro Bowler (4 time All Pro). a member of the NFL all decade team for the 90's, and in the Dolphins Ring of Honor.

Ray Childress is a 5 time All Pro.

Jacob Green is a 2 time Pro Bowler, 1 time All Pro and in the Seahawks Ring of Honor.

Dante Hall is a 2 time All Pro, a member of the NFL all decade team for the 00's, and in the Chiefs Ring of Honor.

Lester Hayes is a 2 time Super Bowl champion, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1980, 5 time Pro Bowler, 2 time All Pro, and a member of the NFL all decade team for the 1980's.

Dennis Allen didn't have much of an NFL career but has been a coach of both the Raiders and Saints.

Yale Lary is a 3 time NFL Champion (pre-Super Bowl era), 9 time Pro Bowler, 5 time All Pro, a member of the NFL all decade team for the 1950's, a member of the Lions Ring of Honor and the NFL Hall of Fame. He also played minor league pro baseball for a few years while in the NFL. And he missed the 1954 and 1955 seasons for military service.

I think it's Yale Lary.

the problem for Myles...

he has so many meaningless sacks -- because he plays with a terrible franchise

shades of Mario Williams -- who had 97 career sacks -- but only played in 1 playoff game his entire career
