Michigan and now Ohio State will be back to back champs. Big Ten now runs college football. SEC dominance is a thing of the past regardless of the ESPN/SEC propaganda machines. Kirby and Saban are great recruiters, but it's pretty clear other schools now being able to pay players has leveled the field tremendously. No doubt Saban retired because of it. SEC reffing remains atrocious.

I love the regional match-ups we have in the SEC, but if things don't work out well... the Big 10 is working out pretty well for Oregon. Just saying.

You think only SEC teams were paying players???

so i am clear what your saying. michigan finally ended almost two decades of utter dominance by the sec by finally winning a big game and because ohio st made the semi finals this year the sec reign of dominance is over.

i hadn't realized that.

Not so fast my friend.

Michigan cheated and likely should have been stripped of wins last year. We know if had been TAMC or SMU that would have happened.

Ohio State is 2 wins away from the title, so I wouldn't give it to them just yet.

Ohio State had to vacate wins and fire their HC in 2010 as a result of uncovered cheating on their part. No one has ever played by the rules.

Does anyone know ball? Ohio State is clearly winning this thing.

They've looked good and they've looked bad. It's anything but certain. If the play like they did in the rose bowl though, they are the favorite.

A&M should have at least kicked the tires with the Big 10 after Snakey cornholed us.

Back to back years of the BIG TEN winning Natties. I hope the SEC never wins another now that t.u is here (unless A&M does)

The balance of power in college football is shifting. With the growing influence of NIL deals and the transfer portal, the Big 10 and SEC are becoming equally competitive in the race for national championships. The Big 10 made a major upgrade by adding the elite Pac 12 teams.

It's clear that these factors are leveling the playing field, signaling the end of exclusive SEC dominance.

Who says we didn't or aren't?

Remember that rumor from a few months ago about A&M and the big10?

Not saying that's true but we as fans have no idea what's happening behind the scenes, as evidenced by being blindsided by tu and ou to the sec

So? We are not SEC. We are not the state of Texas football.

Win or go home and lick your wounds to say, "next year."

Can't cling to an identity bc of a conference. Just win or shut up.

Yep. **** em. I never thought I'd see the day that I would root for ND and Ohio state, but here I am. I don't care if the SEC ever wins again.

And while I'm not in favor of it from a regional perspective, it seems clear to me that the B1G is and will continue to outmaneuver the SEC when it comes to conference expansion. It's very possible that if the primary ACC pieces head B1G, then come "merger time" the SEC will have zero leverage to dictate which teams make it to the B1G and which ones don't. A&M has to be heads up here

B1G is now too big to fail. It's a true national conference with USC, UCLA. Wash & Oregon. Meanwhile the SEC is a local/regional conference along the lines of the ACC. And there is nowhere to go to add teams. Look for ND to drop the ACC and join the Big1G in the next couple of years. When that domino falls look for Clemson & FSU to follow suit. More 5* recruits from southern states will be signing with B1G schools. B1G has positioned itself to be THE premier conference in the nation.

Agreed and we would be stupid to not at least gauge interest with the B1G.

BIG is having a nice resurgence. Portal and coaching transitions have diluted the SEC. However, we are in the right spot.

This thing will cycle back and forth and who knows if SEC ever grows with FSU and the U and/or Clemson, etc.

Old money is who puts money into college sports and these big old northern schools have it.

Everyone on here likes to say how we (A&M) are rich. But since A&M became a large school with a large alumni base fairly recently, we really are not.
Most of our living alumni are Gen X or later and they just don't donate like the older generations did. So while the numbers may be vastly greater, the donations are far fewer and smaller.

Although, all it really takes it one billionaire on a mission.

Which of the big 10 athletic depatments get more donations from their former students than A&M?
I assume Ohio state & Michigan.

But based on these numbers, that's wrong:

https://247sports.com/longformarticle/college-sports-top-donors-ranking-the-most-generous-athletics-boosters-214986422/amp/

So what's the source saying big 10 gets more donations than we do?

I said it at the time and got shouted down on this site. SEC is all powerful yada yada without anyone stepping back to think how NIL was/is changing everything.

SEC down. Big whatever has a few strong teams this year. Glad to see SEC get knocked off its perch. "SEC rules" way overdone. College football now so over-commercialized and narratives over-controlled by espn hacks. The game is much less interesting; now in full control by advertiser spend. Boring.

Yes it's all about the big ten and big dollars. SEC is a poor conference money wise. Even the ACC has more wealth. Notre Dame, Penn St or Ohio St can all win in.

We should join the Big ten while we can and be the only team. Payouts will be going up to $100MM.

Schools with the money will rise.

All the big 10 has is more teams which leads to some teams having watered down schedules. The ACC is the same way. The sec needs to move to 18 teams also so we can get our smu and Indiana into the playoffs also

Over the last 25 years only 12 or 13 schools have won a national championship. That's not likely to change anytime soon. All the handwringing and pearl clutching about conferences is just noise.

This.

Any move to the Big 10 prior to, at the very least, wining the SEC would make us look like complete p*****s. We'd look like we'd gotten such a severe case of bunched panties over tu joining the SEC that we ran away crying. I'm not necessarily in favor of moving but we'd be fools not to listen if the Big 10 if they showed interest and I'd imagine having a foothold in Texas would be very appealing to them.
