Here is the NCAA rulebook:

ARTICLE 1a A field goal shall be scored if a scrimmage kick, which maybe a drop kick or place kick, passes over the crossbar between the uprights of the receiving team's goal before it touches a player of the kicking team or the ground.

I can't believe people are seeing this and actually giving it any credence whatsoever.
In all our years of watching football, you really think no one would have heard of this much less tried this move as a last ditch effort to win a game? People would be practicing this if it were a thing.

Wait so if the kick were to glance off one of the O lineman's helmets and still go through, it would be no good?

Seems like that would happen every once in a great while but I've never seen it

I haven't seen it happen but the kick would be no good.

ETA. Under High School Federation rules, if it touches a member of the kicking team in or behind the neutral zone, the kick would be good.

If this was a kick from Texas at the end of the game and for the game, I would imagine the refs calling it good.

It would not be reviewable so the call would stand.

Later it would be explained that the refs never saw it hit the ground.

classof92 about to come in here and tell everyone to move on. He will then tell everyone how Texas has never received any favorable calls.

And he will say let the players decide it on the field. Any bad call even if a player was hurt on the play is just payback.

Also, if the kickoff goes through the uprights that counts as an extra 3 points, and you get to kick again. Kind of like make it-take it in basketball.

Actually was a dead ball by rule. A kick blocked no more than 3 yards beyond the neutral zone is considered touched behind the neutral zone.

A kick untouched by the defense beyond the neutral zone that touches the end zone is dead automatically.

i cannot believe how many people I've seen say this. You care enough to post on CFB message boards, but dont have a day 1 understanding.
