Poor coaching and scheme would be my guess. Maybe poor conditioning. Moffitt hasn't seemed to make a difference. Lack of motivation.

Renta players are only looking out for themselves.

I think Scourton got nicked up in a game, can't remember which one, and he seemed to quit. Saving himself for the draft.

Oregon is asking the same about Evan Stewart.

I don't think he was on the injury report but he gets hurt pre-game and sits out against OSU??? And before that I think he played against PSU but had 0 catches.

But I was told he was a major loss and a huge success story at Oregon. They said he was nowhere near another 5* bust and would be taken in the top 2 rounds of the nfl draft this year and that I was stupidly for saying otherwise.

This was only a few weeks ago.

These guys are playing for the NFL draft, not Texas A&M. When they realize they've done enough to establish their draft status they shut it down and play not to get hurt.

I think Walter Nolen was by far the biggest loss the previous year. I saw him get like 7 holding calls this year for Ole Miss. You know how many we got as a team.

He was definitely our biggest loss and it's not close.

Evans was supposedly our 2nd biggest loss if that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about that class full of supposed 5* talent.

That was exactly my theory. That once they earned a reputation of being worthy of a high pick they coasted in order to protect themselves. A "business decision".

I hated to lose Diggs. Was really impressed by him. Not sure how well he did at Syracuse, but he was a beast for us at times, especially against Bama.

It also really seemed that they (especially Scourton) were primarily focused on sacks, and not too concerned with run defense. This left QB's free to gut us up the middle. Maybe they were getting paid per sack, or just to build that up as a stat to get pro attention.

Quitting and putting out bad film would only hurt his draft value. We'll likely never know what the issue was, but calling his integrity and effort into question when you have no idea what was happening seems a bit lazy at best.

I thought Scorton was lazy all year. Half the stats he had at Purdue.

Check out difference between one of the first transfers, Maurice "Mo" Morman's Jr and Sr year for Ags. Guys have been doing this over 50 years.

Nothing that can't be overcome in the NFL combines and campus scouting days

I'd personally consider him our 2nd biggest loss even though we replaced him with someone better. He had a productive year at cuse.

While we are just throwing out wild speculation, mine is that we had an excellent starting lineup, but not the depth that we've had over recent years. This means that the starters built up more minor injuries throughout the season and for whatever reason we weren't confident enough in the guys behind them to give them some rest. That led to more playing hurt, and as a result, poorer play overall.

I know this is a crazy theory, but I just wanted to get it off my chest. I'm sure the zoo is right and all of these guys just gave up on the season while they still had everything left to play for.

That's unfortunate, because the guys behind them will be our starters next season.

I feel like our defensive line quit trying after Miss got hurt. From that point on they played not to get hurt and make it to the draft healthy.

Does this qualify as "culture" then, as every team has guys eyeing playing at the next level

So why did he opt out of the bowl game? Did he care too much? He quit on his team!

All 3 of those were getting drafted regardless. In their minds, I'm sure it's fine if they drop a few picks in exchange for not having a season or career ending injury. When you get to the last 5 games of your final year in college, your draft stock is what it is in most cases if you've played in the SEC and the Big 10.

They might have been stressed over mid term exams. Worrying about GPA and whether they will graduate on time and what will happen to them if they don't get drafted or get a good job. Sucks the energy right out of a player.
