What's the problem with November?

Is it conditioning?

We have lost four or more games 24 out of the last 26 seasons. With our resources and overall commitment to the program, you almost have to be trying to be that pathetic. November is usually the culprit though. No idea why.

It's hard to build a winning tradition, without a lot of winning. Facilities, buildings and money are just a part of good programs. Many years ago when I was a young high school coach on the move. I was told a few times- "there are just some schools that can't win". Those old coaches usually knew.

It's a new year

Playoffs are about to continue. Beautiful weather.
My thoughts are for those that lost loved ones in New Orleans.

And this is where your mind goes.

Too each their own, I guess

We tend to play our more difficult competition in November. Our cakewalks are in august/September and the mid level conference and bye weeks are in October. We just crumble against better programs especially after we use all our turbos in the late summer and early fall. Long story short: we suck.

Yes, God forbid someone make a post about A&M football on an A&M football message board during the college football playoffs.

Good Lord.

Disagree, SEC schedule has been fairly well balanced, we usually played Bama in Oct., lsu always in Nov., Ole Miss and Auburn seemed to be either/or. That record is skewed by the 0-5 Sumlin posted vs. lsu, since then we are about 50/50 vs. lsu.

If you were going to infer anything from this it would most likely be that we don't have enough depth to shore up the back end of the season, that we not only need to increase our level of talent in the starting 22 but the 2 deep backups.

Oh I know

He is not even smart enough to understand my point. But just decides a general statement of football discussion.

But let's ignore the point I made about, with everything taking place, this is somehow the football topic that is warranted a detail discussion at this time.

Elko has been here one year. That's it.

November was bad so they want to complain. I mean discuss it.

Well by golly he was great in SEC play the other three months. LOL

You guys have fun on this very important topic.

By your impenetrable logic then, the board should just shut down today because of what happened yesterday? Is that what you're advocating genius?

Just take the L. You made a really idiotic post, now just accept it.

November/December SEC Games by year
2012: 3-0
2013: 1-2
2014: 1-2
2015: 1-2
2016: 0-3
2017: 1-2
2018: 2-1
2019: 1-2
2020: 4-0
2021: 1-2
2022: 1-2
2023: 1-2
2024: 0-3

We have had losing SEC record in November ever year except for 2012, 2018, and 2020. We lost our last 4 SEC games in 2016 and our last 3 SEC games in 2024. Dating back to a 42-30 road loss at LSU, we have lost 4 consecutive November SEC games.

We tend to play more difficult SEC opponents in November.

2013: 34-10 road loss at 10-3 (5-3 SEC) LSU and 28-21 road loss at 12-2 (6-2 SEC) SEC East champion Missouri

2014: 34-27 home loss to 11-3 SEC East Champion Missouri

2015: 19-7 road loss at 9-3 (5-3 SEC) LSU

2016: 54-39 home loss to 8-4 (5-3 SEC) LSU

2017: 42-27 home loss to 10-4 (7-1 SEC) SEC West champion Auburn and 45-21 road loss at 9-4 (6-2 SEC) LSU

2019: 19-13 road loss at 12-2 (7-1 SEC) SEC East Champion Georgia and 50-7 road loss at 15-0 (8-0 SEC) CFP National Champion LSU

2021: 29-19 road loss at 10-3 (6-2 SEC) Ole Miss

2022: 41-24 home loss to 6-7 (3-5 SEC) Florida because we had numerous players out

2023: 38-35 road loss at 11-2 (6-2 SEC) Ole Miss and 42-30 road loss at 10-3 (6-2 SEC) LSU

2024: 44-20 road loss at 9-4 (5-3 SEC) South Carolina and 17-7 home loss to 12-2 (7-1 SEC) Texas

However, some of these November losses were inexcusable:

2014: 23-17 home loss to 8-5 (4-4) LSU

2015: 26-10 home loss to 6-6 (2-6 SEC) Auburn

2016: 35-28 road loss at 6-7 (3-5 SEC) Mississippi State and 29-28 home loss to 5-7 (2-6 SEC) Ole Miss

2018: 28-24 road loss at 8-5 (3-5 SEC) Auburn in which we blew a 24-14 lead with 5:14 left

2021: 27-24 road loss at 6-6 (3-5 SEC) LSU

2022: 13-10 road loss at 5-7 (2-6 SEC) Auburn

2024: 43-41 4-OT road loss at 5-7 (2-6 SEC) Auburn

Except for 2 years, we've fielded mediocre teams in the SEC. We are Texas 8-4, with 3 of those wins being buy games. There is something in the subconscious mentality of the players who choose to come here. Except for Johnny Manziel, they don't believe they can win.

Excellent illustration.

It is likely a combination of lack of depth and conditioning, poor coaching, and "culture".

Thank goodness basketball and baseball teams have improved to the point that we can enjoy and cheer for winners in the winter and spring.

We're a real potential for a Final Four team this year. And if you make the Final Four...anything can happen!

Allot of those were winnable games that ended with a 1 score or less point differential...people overlook that.
