I don't recall if SC got called for offensive holding during the bowl game. That being said, we'd gone 8 and a half games in a row without an offense holding call made against an opponent.

Take an average of 65ish plays per game, and that's 552 snaps by opponents without a single holding call heading into the bowl game.

That stat is absolutely mind blowing. Is it us not drawing attention to holds? Seems highly unlikely.

AI says college football teams get called on average for 1 offensive holding penalty per game. So the probability of 8.5 games straight with no holding calls against us is .276% or 1 in 362. The math ain't mathing.

It's mostly on our underperforming defensive line. When you aren't routinely putting pressure on the opposing QB it's harder to get the calls for holding because the feeling is holding isn't needed to stop you.

hate to say it, but maybe they need to be coached to flail their arms when being held to draw attention to it. I'm not saying a soccer style flop but 'hey i'm being held' type movements that other teams do.

I hear throwing trash on the field works to draw penalties...

I saw Walter Nolen get way more hold calls this year than our entire team.

I don't think you can say it is just the refs or bad luck.

That's exactly what I thought early in the year also. Theres pictures of several held jerseys that didn't get called on plays. Every single time our guys just tried to run out of it. Put the arms up and ask for the hold. That's how it works. If you don't get it then, at least the ref may keep an eye out for it going forward.

Maybe it was good luck. We walked up to a stranger and guessed their birthday correctly, month and day. Essentially the same odds...

SEC refs calling the Boise St/Penn St game have missed several holding calls in the 1st half.

You do know the refs threw a flag for offensive holding against us by the sips? Never mind that the flag was thrown on our pick-6.

The refs were hoping we accepted the penalty.
