Good Lord……. You mean "The team wearing Alabama uniforms lost to the team wearing Michigan uniforms". With all the opt outs it's just a glorified practice game if you aren't a playoff team.

Except Bama had a 10 win streak to try to preserve, and none of the Tide's NFL bound players opted out. Michigan had 8 players who declared for the draft and opted out.

Michigan's backups beat Bama's starters.

That was notable and admirable, however……

Alabama opt outs:
  • Dylan Lonergan, QB (transfer portal)
  • Justice Haynes, RB (transfer portal)
  • Caleb Odom, WR (transfer portal)
  • Emmanuel Henderson Jr., WR (transfer portal)
  • Kendrick Law, WR (transfer portal)
  • Kobe Prentice, WR (transfer portal)
  • Naquil Betrand, OL (transfer portal)
  • Miles McVay, OL (transfer portal)
  • Damon Payne, DL (transfer portal)
  • Hunter Osborne, DL (transfer portal)
  • Jaheim Oatis, DL (transfer portal)
  • Keanu Koht, DL (transfer portal)
  • Jahlil Hurley, CB (transfer portal)
  • Jaylen Mbakwe, CB (transfer portal)
  • DeVonta Smith, S (transfer portal)

Certainly not all starters, but it does have an impact. Bowls aren't what they used to be.

Saban is probably regretting retiring at this point. It has to make him sick that this is what Alabama has morphed into in just a year. He could have coached a few more years.

He left because he saw this coming with NIL + TP.

I don't think they would have lost to Vanderbilt or OU if he were still there.

They wouldn't have. They'd be in the playoffs and would have been in the sec title game

But Saban wanted no part of the Indiana jones adventure that college football has Become

Bama fans are in for a long stretch of what the rest of college football fans have to endure annually tgst they didn't fit the last decade and a half

I disagree. I've been watching alot of games today and have been enjoying them. I don't ever recall watching a college practice game.

Does BYU look like they just won a practice game?

Didn't say they weren't enjoyable, they just aren't of the caliber of play ranking significance they used to be. Who isn't happy if they win?

Yep, but in today's world of college ball all the players are basically paid mercenaries. So your comment about players just wearing school uniform in the bowl game....to me that is basically every game now.

They would have been a better pick than Indiana. It was a complete joke that Indiana got in.

Bama lost the best coach in the history of coaching. They were/are bound to digress.

Dude's been around the GB for a long time; he knows what he's doing.

You may have missed a classic post in another thread calling bowls "participation trophies," in which he shared that he threw his kids' participation trophies in the garbage in front of the kids to teach them that winning and losing was all that mattered.

Bama is just dropping down to middle of the pack so the sips can ascend to the top and duke it out with Georgia every year. Coaches the quality of nick saban don't grow on trees.

And they probably wouldn't be allowed to coach if they did as some sort of weird plant hybrid.

Alabama started and ended 2024 with losses to Michigan, and Kalen Deboer lost twice to Michigan in 2024 with two different teams. As a result, Alabama dropped to 9-4 and fell short of a 10-win season for the first time since 2007.

This has to be some kind of record.

Except Michigan had like 10 starters opt out including 4 projected first round picks. This was straight up embarrassing for Bama
