So is Bateman canned?
Confirmed anywhere?
Won't be confirmed until he has his replacement ready to go….. at least that's what I would do…… but who knows…

Nick Saban is not available.Aggie Dad 26 said:AWP 97 said:
Yeah, hopefully Santucci has improved considerably since his time here. Not 100 percent convinced by the few Georgia Tech games I watched but that may have been a talent issue.
The fact that he's being considered is disheartening. How about hiring someone who's a sure fire guy?

I've been calling out York's shortcomings all year and stated he's not a starting SEC caliber LB (absolutely a great kid, understands calls, but still guesses on gap leverage and/or easily blocked or lost in space on a TE). Coop covered up his flaws last year. York will be a coach one day is the path he's on, but just not a SEC LB regardless of 'false' stats and posters who don't understand the position.
Scooby and Stanford are better combo (albeit not perfect), but a few young bucks should step up next year as on paper should have a few that can play.

Santucci was the me who whiffed on those big time LB's that went to corndog and sip. The next logical step is to say you don't love it here.90ags said:
We'll see...had heard behind the scenes convos and think Elko was going w buddy Bateman for DC and then GT offered Tyler S. which prob squashed next steps (but aware that Tyler S didn't want to come back as a position coach and he didn't love it here the first time).

I'm sure we all would. Can you convince him to come here?
Durkin did better his second year after Santucci left and Durkin took over coaching the group for which Santucci was responsible.oneeyedag said:
Can someone tell me how smiles did in his first year compared to Bateman...not sure santucci was the problem

There is not a coach in the world capable of making our team captain MLB grow taller or run faster. I don't know why so many people didn't notice how bad we were at defending the middle of the field. Re watch USCs offensive hilights and focus on York.

Now, would be the perfect time to go after the texas DC and leak it. maybe we get 'em or maybe we don't, but at least it's close to payback to Del Conte for his tactics last May.

Watch out. When I made the similar observation during the USC game, I was accused of just hating on York instead of just pointing out facts.

Then you're blind. York is continually behind the play. He runs a slooow 4.8X at best and can't jump. What he does do is put effort in, which is something, I guess.
It has nothing to do with money. It's Elko's defensive system. He needs a disciple, a protegee to come in and run it the way it should be run. Looks like Bateman wasn't the answer. Santucci is getting a hard look. But Elko is not going to hire some up and comer yahoo that is some great DC running some other system no matter how good he is. It's Elko's team and Elko's defense. If he's making a change its to get somebody else to run his defense.Quote:
Maybe I'm alone in thinking this but don't think I'm going on a limb either......but we can't afford a sure fire coach at any level
Don't get your hopes up

Someone needs to count the number of times York was burned while attempting to cover the forward pass. Write that stat in braille so this blind guy can see.
