They matter if for nothing other than practice time.
Winning a bowl game doesn't matter to you? Ironic you saying when they 'won' something.infinity ag said:
No.
Bowl wins are like Participation Trophies. Worthless and for losers. And worse, they breed a loserly attitude.
When my kids were little (age 7 onward) and were handed out participation trophies in sports, I would throw them into the trash. In front of them after telling them what I would do so it would be no surprise and before they built any attachment to them.
I'd explain to them that they had to WIN trophies the hard way. When they WON something, I would display them in my living room. And I did, when they would win tennis tournaments. I still have all their real trophies and medals.
My kids never hated me for it. They remember and laugh about it.
Kids need tough love to become winners. Nothing good is free or easy.
I hope you clarify what you mean. Taken on the surface this may be the silliest comment I have ever seen on here and that is saying something.infinity ag said:

You would rather lose the bowl game than win it???? WOW

I guess you were more proud of your kids if they lost the final game of the season when it didn't matter than to win the game that didn't matter.
Teaching your kids not to play hard because you think the game is not important is a terrible lesson.

Your slogan: Bowl wins are for losers. They breed a loserly attitude.
How you equate a bowl win to a participation trophy is beyond me. No one is saying A&M should be a top 10 team if they would have won the bowl game.

Inifinity ag solved the puzzle.
He says Bowl wins are for losers and breed a loserly attitude.
That means bowl losses are for winners and breed a winning attitude.

Yeah, USC players didn't give a sheet, that is why they were so happy after the win...fla_agfan said:

College football has always just been entertainment.zb008 said:
The non-playoff bowl games are just holiday entertainment and nothing more. It has been that way since opt outs started happening.

They matter if you win. They don't matter if you lose in devastatingly humiliating fashion and need to make yourself feel better about it.

To all the numb nuts saying bowl games don't matter. Quit watching college football.

Please explain to me how it has ever been more than that?
I'm sure they will feel much better in Spring ball with the bowl win versus if they would have lost.zb008 said:Onionman said:

Do you think USC will care that they won the Las Vegas Bowl when Spring ball starts? At the end of the day, they went 7-6.
