How much and for how long do we keep investing in the Aggie Football program? Before NIL, it was just college football and aside from "bag men" and BMA's "investing," normal fans just rode the ups and downs. Now, we are all asked to invest more and more and it begs the question: for how long and to what end?

Looking at the Jimbo years and our current situation (NIL era), why would we be motivated to invest more when the return has been mediocre to slightly above average? The problem doesn't seem to be our lack of commitment to giving money. For you expert investors, what's your assessment of Aggie Football as a kind of investment?

Invest in land and real property. It is a better bet.

Only the Kamala Harris campaign gets a worse ROI.

The schools that will win in the 20's and 30's are the schools that will pay the most moolah to its athletes.
Whichever school can pay for the best players will win the most championships.

Cars, Jewelry, apartment, women and fancy toys like recruiting lounges are what it takes to entice the 5 star players to come and play at your school.

OP, why call it an investment? You never get any money back from it, just potential satisfaction.

Just think of it like paying for concert tickets. How much are you willing to pay to see a quality show, or just to have a good time?

And I don't agree with those who say the most money will get the best results. Plenty of teams that spent a lot less than A&M did a lot better than A&M on the field this year.

Agreed.

So how many of you season ticket holders aren't renewing? I know a few that are done and it looks like a hot topic over on the premium site

I will not contribute another penny to the school or athletic program. I hated what it's all become. Sooner than later the players are going to be unionized employees, and then I'll be completely done with it. The shortsightedness of all parties involved in college athletics to allow this to happen are so incompetent, they deserve what they get.

Good points here, thanks. I guess I thought of it more as being asked to invest bc of how often we hear about needing to give more to NIL. In times past, it did seem more like concert tickets. These days, it seems like we are being asked to give more than just pay for the price of admission.

Well, what else would you call NIL? Or giving to capital campaigns for better facilities? I suppose the latter are donations but it's also a kind of "investment," whether we like it or not…
