Couldn't pay him enough…plus the pendulum swung on Elko's contract to pleasing fans with incentives aligned with desired outcomes because he and his agent agreed to them on top of a $7 million per annum salary. He is a bargain hire like Sherman.
In 2018, $7.5 million/year was earth-shattering. Now, $7 million/year is a bargain. This isn't fun anymore.

Without Brady, he wasn't even very good at getting players to come to New England.

Hes already taken 13 players through the portal

He hasn't started losing players he's recruited or brought in from the Portal yet though. That will begin next off-season, and (i think) will drive him crazy.


They are requiring clauses saying they can't transfer in the nil deals
