I see no evidence of any change. Extremely undisciplined football team Penalty after penalty and the taunting and stupid celebrations after a catch or a tackle are sickening

The culture of Aggie football is we will always find a way to **** things up. It's an Aggie tradition like no other.

We were statistically one of the most penalized teams in the country. #discipline #culture

Said it last night…we have too many players wanting to do some kind of taunting routine after a mediocre tackle/pass play or catch for 7 yds. to get attn.

It screams of a culture issue, but hard to overcome in today's game as that's more important to the player than actually playing football.

It was pretty obvious our culture was dog**** when shemar Turner stayed in the game after all the idiotic personal foul penalties

Your supposed senior leader can't control himself & your supposed head coach won't discipline him for hurting the team....

This whole thing is a dumpster fire & it's all on Elko... He knows it too... he himself admitted he can't even teach the guys how to play basic zone coverage

Zero fundamentals, zero discipline

But wait, we have a new coach. He says the word culture a lot. Our Aggie "insider(s)" keep saying the team has changed.

Something doesn't add up, does it?

We've stopped smoking pot in the locker room at an away game. I guess that's the big change

Yes, the stupid celebrations on defense and taunting need to stop. It's JV. The little tweety bird thing last night by I believe our corner deserved a flag for taunting and we're lucky he didn't get one.

Either Elko is a fraud or his hands are tied with NIL obligations. Easy to see now why Saban walked away from this dynamic now.

The only thing that has changed has been the calendar.

It's not the coach. Just always remember that. The coach is the scape goat. Been that way since firing RC. Whatever it is that is going on behind the scenes led to letting RC go. RC wanted facilities but for some reason, was not supported in that. Then, when he didn't have the Jimmys and Joes it was conveniently his fault.

Rinse repeat.

Imagine trying to untangle 18 years of gangsta culture in a year or two as the coach. Not going to happen. Most of these kids statistically probably do not have a father in the house.

There is no such thing as nil obligations.... At least not for competent coaches

Nil gets the player in the building.... his play is what (should) decide if he sees the field or not

Simple.

We Aggies are way way too proud of Aggie tradition and honor instead of focusing on creating a winning culture. It's more important to honor the stupid ****ing ring (no other school emphasizes the ring) and keeping yell leaders than hiring the best leadership who can win.

Elko is just another safe good Ole Boy Aggie network "he gets us" hire.

I keep seeing this take that Jimbo had a horrifically toxic culture and Elko is fixing it. I'm genuinely curious where that comes from. I see it a lot,

What does a ring or yell leaders have to do with winning?

Reality is the lesser sports have succeeded here. It's not that A&M is cursed by our traditions, school colors, fight song, or anything else.

What we are cursed by is a long line of locker rooms that deep down know that if they win 10 games, they are super heroes. That sinks in deep. It's there in practice. It's there in the offseason. It's there in the play calling. It's there in the film room. Breaking that mentality requires a monumental mental shift.

Think about what Campbell has done with the lions. They have sucked forever. They won one singular playoff game in 60 years. How has he created success? Not by just being a super smart coach. He embraced the city of Detroit and made being a Lion something special. Guys are willing to run through a brick wall for him. That's what is needed here, and that is exceptionally rare. I doubt we ever find it.

That's presumptuous. Someone drove them to football practice and they are competing in the strongest conference in America. They aren't "Thugs", they are young men finding their way in an F uped World.

Thank you, exactly. And to answer your question, not a damn thing.

And more Aggies are obsessed with these sort of odd Aggie tradition (not just these 2) than changing to a culture of winning.
