QB leads a 16 play drive with virtually no negative plays there's a lot of things he's doing right for that to happen.

- misses touch passes on fades in end zone. Needs more touch and ability hit target with lots of air and spin
- reads our receivers and not the defenses.
-relies on feet too much to beat blitz
- doesn't read blitz or defensive backfield well enough.

Old coach of mine used to say a good qb runs his offense, knows routes and progressions and reads those. A great one reads a defense first, keeps eyes on defenders and knows where his guys will be and picks it apart.

Marcel's challenge is developing into the latter.

Positive? His 2 picks in just over a qtr only led to one touchdown.

The more accurate way of saying this is he is not seeing the defense as his focal point and picking up his receivers in his peripheral vision and by mentally having a picture of how the coverage is shaping the routes.

Instead he reads pre snap coverage goes through his progression by focusing on his receivers.

The 2nd int was an absolute dime. Couldn't have been thrown any better. Not on him.

That said, he has real trouble throwing the deep ball.

There should be a way for receivers to be charged for interceptions instead of quarterbacks when great passes are dropped like that

Even the 2nd pick I would argue he caused the window to tighten because he wasn't reading, looking off safeties and was locked in on our receiver.

Can it be fixed and can he develop and is there a lot of potential in Reed absolutely. But like Jimbo used to say about potential it just means you haven't done it yet.

But his ceiling could be the best SEC QB, very special.

Hopefully we are working with him like a Jon Gruden does, he's one of the best ever at what I'm saying.

3 continues to disappoint in '24 after a great '23

Reed isn't the answer. Love his running and love his moxie but you you have to be a bit of a threat in passing and he just isn't. Should have promised Longstreet open competition for the starting job in 2025, maybe he would have stayed.

That's a weird argument when the ball hit the receiver in the hands in the end zone

Gilli, I'm trying to be positive about Aggie football after committing to be an Aggie during Jackie's run and showing up during RC's days and not since Jackie having seen a complete, really good Aggie football team with great offense, defense and quality wins. I'm so hopeful Elko can do it.

Coaches dont develop QBs anymore.

He's not a difference maker and I don't understand anointing him the starter next season as if he can't be challenged.

We should have gone and got the biggest bad ass QB in the portal.

The pick was on WR. Ball was on time on target.

I'm saying he still didn't read the safety he only fixated on wr progression. He certainly had time to look off safety to keep that window wider.

Success is not perfection and QBs work to become perfect.

Yep, if he earns it in the offseason then that is hopefully a great thing

I just don't see it from him. He needs to make some major improvements before next season or we're looking at a worse record than this year.

We absolutely need a different qb

If I was head coach with my neck on the line I would have absolutely made a big move for a legit QB. But I can also see the issue of who can you get vs who would you lose if you do.

And with the lack of playmakers we have around I'm not sure we are seeing Marcel's or Connor's for that matter best.

I like him and of course root for him,, just don't see him being elite or good enough to get us to where we all hope to be

If I'm Elko I'm telling him I'm looking for really good tape on him this coming half.

But give him credit he was very impressive in that drive. Props to coaches for the plan too. Clearly they saw some things and adjusted.

Yeah, I got no issues with Reed, Coaches or game plan. I think someone just needs to tell coach what's going on. Reed has tipped all game. Reed just needs a slight correction.

USC is terrible.

QB counter at 7yd line Reed tried to bounce it out instead of following the pulllers for sure yardage. Loss.

But A lot to like on these two drives. The read on the scissors route!

Love to see a quality play and get it in end zone.

That lay up to Noah wasn't even remotely close to him

He's got some real accuracy issues

Reed read the blitz and correctly dumped to the swing pass but Bussey didn't get out far enough and Reed needed to lead that better to create space. I just didn't like that play design. Should've been something up top as hot read with all that pressure.
