It's a sign of old age to still be nursing a Christmas hangover. Y'all should be at the casino with the rest of us gambling away our jelly of the month club savings and waiting for our late kickoff.

But another 8-4 season isn't quite enough to get the pot bangers to make noise or the sunshine pumpers to wake up for this bowl game. While the pot bangers are hanging on to the classic November collapse, the sunshine pumpers have us playoff bound next season. Nonetheless, 8-4 never looked so good and bad at the same time.

Y'all both should have listened to us level headed folk as our pre-season predictions came to fruition. And reaching the coveted 9 win mark is nothing to scoff at considering our recent history. So let's go get this dub to give the sunshiners a little something extra for this long off-season.

The game can't be meaningless when it:
-Counts towards our alltime win-loss and bowl records
-Counts towards all the players' career stats

Thanks for the reminder, I had not realized that our bowl was today.
I was so engrossed in a certification exam I was preparing for that I completely forgot. Took the test this morning and PASSED so I can watch the bowl in a good frame of mind. 3 months of prep so relieved to be past that.

The OL is still the OL, not good. The DL, which could not stop the run or get to the qb, has less depth. Moss is still out. We still lack speed. Marcel has not been seeing open receivers. Receivers, backs, and db's have been dropping passes. The DC and OC are still the same. I could go on.

USC lost 5 games by less than a td. They lost to Penn St in OT. They put up 35 on ND, along with over 500 yds.

Likely outcome, USC 31 A&M 20.

Hoped for outcome, A&M more than USC.

We haven't played usc in my lifetime.

The players want the dub (hopefully). Elko wants the dub. I want the dub.

Yes. However, we are 0-3 in bowls against USC. Regardless of the recent past, USC is a brand name in college football. Why; given our size, money, facilities, 12th man, top 10 recruiting; are we slightly above average in football. I don't get it. This game is more important to us really than to USC. We do need a win. I am not optimistic though based on the realities I mentioned. Rise up and break the trend.

Very successful year under Elko in Year 1. Totally met all my expectations and while also giving us a legit shot at CFP and SEC Championship. Team just barely fell short on having an insanely good season.

Year 2....if Elko simply takes another step forward like this year ...we are GOLDEN.

By Year 3 this program will be seriously competing for a chance at the natty with regular showings in the CFP.

It is laid out for all you unrealstic fans that want instant success. And if your crazy expectations are not met....you want to fire everyone and start over again. That is just a moronic way to built a solid foundation. Perfection....takes time and some luck!

A solid win tonight continues that legacy. We need it for branding and natl media love to assist in NIL pursuits into the future. I will be disappointed if we dont destroy a weak ass USC tonight.

Exactly why this should be an overwhelming victory. Great for our program even if USC players have all quit on Riley. Victory over USC for the history books if also a good thing!

Time, ah yes, more time. I agree we need to progress next year. If not, we are looking at 5 years or more of failure. I am hoping for progress. If we continue to get stuffed on 4th and one and rush 4 on opponents 3rd and long, we won't progress. The coordinators calling that are back. What is the realistic basis to believe we will progress?

We finished in a 6 way tie for fourth place in the conference.

Tied for 3rd loser. Not a good expectation. We can change that. Bit we have to do it, and acceptance of mediocrity is not the way.
