I like the USC matchup much more. I have never thought the service academies are any fun to watch.

Last thing I want to watch in a bowl is a nine minute drive that ends in a field goal.

This. A game versus Navy? Really.

USC all the way even though 80% of their starters seem to be opting out. Either way, a nice statement win against a very, very well known brand. Only help us moving into 2025. Lets put up a USC skin on the wall.

They bowl committee messed this up. Why not put us vs a 9-3 Navy, in the Armed Forces Bowl?

Why did the committee piss away the opportunity to have 2 of the schools that represent the armed forces so well?

And they could've had OU vs USC and put Lincoln Riley on the spot. I'd've watched that.

First time watching college football? So much wrong here. First, the committee doesn't assign bowls outside of the playoffs. 2nd-Navy is AAC, and the SEC doesn't have a bowl tie in with that conference.
You are right, but the OP doesn't like it and wants it changed. Therefore it should change.

Some of these posts just make me shake my head.
OP just wants something different? And should get it? Okay…go get it!!! Move us to the AAC so we can play Navy and Army more often plus old SEC member Tulane and defunct SWC member Rice!!!

Pretty good 70 yard punt with no return. We'll see if that's Navy's best play of the day.

USC vs Michigan: Came back to lead the game in the 4th, lost the lead with 0:37 left in the game

USC vs Penn St: Led the game 20-6 at halftime, lost in overtime

USC vs Notre Dame: Was driving to tie the game with 3:40 left in the game, threw 100 yd pick six. Had 557 total yards vs ND defense

Stop just looking at the record

So… almost a good team.

Coaches telling 5-star recruits that you beat USC in the Raiders stadium in Las Vegas is sooo much cooler than telling them you beat Navy in TCU's stadium in Ft Worth.

15 1st downs for OU to 4 for Navy.

273 total yards to 121 for Navy, and OU is only up 14-7. Going for it on 4th down in their own territory proved to be the turnover that's keeping it close.

OU's strength is its defense, so OU's coaches decided to put the offense in a position to make the game losable.

Too funny.

Anybody think the hit by Navy on the ou qb on the fumble in 3rd quarter was targeting? Seems like the Navy guy hit the qb in the head with his shoulder. Didn't even look at it.

Because USC is a much bigger name and historically successful brand.
Outside of playoffs, the bowl games don't matter anymore with opt outs, transfers, etc. The records don't matter, the name does.
Same reason why nobody gets excited when we have to play Wake Forest in a bowl or faced with the specter of meeting Baylor in a bowl game, regardless of their record.
It's not rocket science.
The name! Historically! Don't matter. USC is 6-6. Taking out their creampuffs, they have a losing record. So intriguing, lol. Are you on the edge of your seat?

Again, nobody is on the edge of their seat for this game. It's a on insignificant bowl in an era completely over saturated with them. Now made even more meaningless by the playoffs.
Now imagine how much more picayune it would be if our opponent were Navy.

Not sure. USC lost a ton of contribution. If we are hungry we should dominate them.

Of course Owens will probably need to play some as well.

Navy is going to make OU look silly. Always take the Service Academies and the points when facing a team full of "athletes" aka undisciplined. They're gonna have that triple option rolling.
That's a nice thought, but this is the same team that allowed 55 to Memphis and struggled to score against Rice. Navy offense also struggled down the stretch. Tulane 35 - Navy 0 is all you need to know.

Take the Sooners -2.5 in this one. Easiest money this bowl season.
Just gonna leave this right here. Do your homework. Previous results against common opponents doesn't matter. Just trying to make y'all some money!

Especially in the portal era; these bowl games (including ours) are just glorified scrimmages.

And to the OP, I also would rather have played Navy on a 65 degree day down the road from my house versus playing a game at 9:30 local time in what will be an empty stadium against USC's B-team. But whatever.

I left the house after q1 and what looked like a sure blowout in OU's favor. Sure didn't work out that way. OU looked light years better athletically in q1. I picked Navy in my picem so I'm glad but I have no clue how that happened .

Which part of it? That the committee doesn't pick bowl games other than the playoffs or that they just played a few weeks ago.

That isn't the team we will be playing though. USC had 29 players hit the transfer portal. They also have a few seniors that have opted out of the bowls. Nothing about non-playoff bowls matters. It sucks, but the bowls are almost worthless. I guess it is better than no college football.

if coaches are using this as a talking point for a 5 star, this is a problem. They will not be impressed by a second tier bowl game. Just leave it off the talking point notecard.

Never said A&M was playing that exact team from the regular season. Just that between those three games and the games with Maryland and Minnesota, 2 or 3 additional defensive stops (1 per final few minutes of a game) during the Mich, PSU, Maryland, or Minn games changes their W-L record significantly.
