The dumbest thing with this format is that the 4 byes go to the top 4 conference champions.

They should just seed them 1-12 based on "merit" with their inclusive rules of highest rated conference champions getting into the playoffs but not giving them the bye.
If they would've done that, it would've been Oregon, Georgia at 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 would've come from
Texas, Penn Stare, Ohio State, and Notre Dame or Tennessee . And whichever didn't get the bye would've been 5, 6 and 7. Then line up the others

Whether you like how the committee came up with the top 12, this scenario would've generated more competitive first round games and not punished any of the top teams.

Here I was thinking Kirk was going to the the obnoxious one in this commentary team.

Fowler likely needs a clean pair of pants to get home.

It seems we have the Vols that played the Hogs. Not the Vols that beat Bama.

And the Buckeyes that squeaked by Nebraska, not the OSU team that was held to 10 points and lost to Michigan at home.

Any chance they can reseed this beeotch for the next round? What a mess.

Maybe unpopular opinion after today, but I still think they need to adopt the 24 team FCS model. The "play-in" round will have better matchups and might help weed out the pretenders. Might have some blowouts in the second round, with an occasional upset, then it should be good football the final three rounds.

This is one of the few comments on the playoffs in general from this weekend that is actually worth reading.

Ohio State dominated Tennessee from start to finish to advance to the CFP quarterfinal for a rematch against Oregon in the Rose Bowl. I noticed several other trends.

1. Ohio State has improved to 11-2 (7-2 Big 10) for their 4th consecutive 11-win season.

2. Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day has improved to 2-3 in CFP games, including 1-2 against SEC teams.

3. Ohio State has improved to 4-0 in home games against SEC teams.

4. All four home teams won first-round CFP games by double digits.

5. In this round, the Big 10 teams went 2-1, the SEC teams went 1-1, and the ACC teams went 0-2.

Ohio state vs Kentucky in basketball was a lot more fun to watch. The football games were a pile of dog sh@t.

Exactly

Teams showing up or not being ready are on the teams and coaches. SMU QB single handling caved. Vols coaching did not have their team ready.

That's why all this complaining about the committee, number of teams etc. holds little weight to me.

The only thing that is clear, getting a home game in the first round is a gigantic advantage. That's it.

I'm all for expanded playoffs and an additional round of home games. Getting two rounds of home games in a 16 team playoff brings tons of importance to the regular season. Bowls are archaic, add zero value besides helping a team get ready for next season, players transfer or opt out for non playoff games. Every single level of sports and every single sport has expanded playoffs.

I think everyone constantly complaining on here are just deflecting their BAS or letting their hate of the sips go to this area.
